Why is One Piece so addicting?

I don't know, but everyday, at least once or twice, I go on youtube and check out gomu gomu no jetgatling, gear 3 giganto pistol, and even revisit the crocodile, eneru, CP9, Don Krieg, and Kuro fights. WHy is it so addicting? I don't understand it. I love it but it just appeals so much to me. thoughts on why its addicting OR NOT addicting to some of you guys?

I don't find it addicting, but it's a damn good manga that you always (well, almost always) wanna keep readin to find out what's gonna happen next.

Im talking about the manga now, the anime can go fuck itself.

The one fight I keep going back to is Luffy vs Usopp. :cry

The single best moment for me in the anime and manga was Usopp rejoining, being pulled by Luffy from the coast. Simply magnificent!

One Piece is addicting. I stared reading the manga a month ago and I finished it in just over 2 weeks.

What's so bad about the anime? I think it is great, even the fillers are better than half of the arcs in Naruto.

Dragged out, full of fillers.
Some parts of the anime were not that great, I agree. The dragging out of Enies Lobby and some of the padding in the Davy Back Fight serve as perfect examples of where the anime isn't that good, and the animation quality can be pretty variable as well. Some of the filler, like the Warship Island arc, the Goat Island arc and even the latest Ice Pirates arc, were also pretty damn shitty, in my opinion. But some of the filler is genuinely enjoyable or even good, like the Rainbow Mist arc and most notably the G8 arc, the latter of which I honestly loved. Even a friend of mine who is not into One Piece at all was impressed by the few episodes of the Rainbow Mist arc he saw, and was surprised to find out that it was filler.

But other than that, I don't see anything wrong with the anime. The animation is decent, far better than some other long running television animation out there, the voice acting is perfect and the music is amazing. I can totally understand preferring the manga to the anime, but condemning the entire anime as shit is something that I personally don't get.

One Piece is so addicting because of the sheer amount of fun I have watching/reading it. There is just no other story I have ever seen or read that captures the sense of fun and adventure as well as One Piece does.

no. I rarely ever watch anime things on youtube.

Come on why would you watch amvs/anime clips when you can watch other funny shit?

As for the OP anime, besides alabasta and enies lobby, I think the rest of the OP animation can use a bit of work.

all the epic battle prove to be more epic than the next :wtf

Why is One Piece so addicting?

Beacuse is just that dam good!!!

That is it really I have no problem with the anime or manga (I do both) and I believe is the best series I have ever read (everyone is entitled to their opinion I won't judge yours as long as you don't judge mine)

Bleh, i just don't like. I didn't even get past Alabasta cuz of all the stuff annoyed me.
The canon stuff wasn't bad at all though, never thought it was.

Forgive me for the short respons, but i've been answering to this very question like gazillion times before you even got here so im kinda tired of it

lol ... OP is just full of win. I personally loved every aspect of the manga and the anime.

The Voice actors are amazing and the anime complements the manga perfectly IMO.

to state the obvious, one can't help but drag out the canonical stuff in order to avoid the anime catching up to the manga :zaru.

well what do you expect with a remark like the anime can go fuck itself. And it's not like they have much choice. It's either slow pacing with not so much fillers or fast pacing with lots of fillers. Anyway I think they did an awesome job on the anime, imo the best long running anime there is. Tried the manga but somehow just don't seem to like it. But then again I don't like any manga, I like the animated versions always better, its just a matter of taste.

As if i give shit if they ain't got no choice or not, it didn't turn out enjoyable for me.

They lace crack within every panel. :pek

In all seriousness, for me it is just a series that completely uses its potential and the level of detail and thought put into it makes me enjoy it even more.

Now I like Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece.

What makes One Piece anime stand out to me is that even though they're on the heels of the current story, I'm not going to worry that it will suck. Several reasons:

1) They have consistently good animation, versus some of the questionable crap that Naruto: Shippuuden and Bleach have been showing as of late.
2) The fillers....are actually enjoyable. I don't have anything against Bleach's Bount arc for example, but once they started doing the tiny episode fillers (like on baking....really? BAKING?) that was just annoying.

As for the story....I never have to worry about One Piece's story. Oda is seriously one insanely talented storyteller, who manages to tie everything together, and have mysteries lying around everywhere. Minor things introduced over 100 chapters ago are explained and suddenly have great significance. Everything is connected, and hell, nothing sounds quite as cool as going on a pirate ship, sailing the ocean, and taking on the world.

Bleach and Naruto can't really say the same.

I agree with all of that.

I totally agree with you ,and i add that Oda is a real genius creating always astounding characters that let amazed the readers.

That's fine. I'm not saying you have to like it, you know. If you don't like it then you don't like it and I don't see a problem with that.

I'm not exactly sympathetic to your feelings, to be honest. Simply put, had you just said something like "I don't like the anime" or "I only like the manga" I wouldn't have bothered to comment negatively on what you said. But like shinjuu said, what were you expecting when you say things like "the anime can go fuck itself"? Did you ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, if you weren't such an ass about the anime in the first place, other people wouldn't be asses about the anime towards you in return?

Whatever, it can go fuck itself and that's that :)

lawlz Klown...

Anyways One Piece is addicting because of it's amazing story, setting, and characters. Not to mention the deep mysteries that lie deep within the world of One Piece. You just really don't see many well crafted series like One Piece out there considering most other shounen have shhallow plots, even more shallow characters, and rely too much on DBZ style fighting.

one thing I personally like is how we can guess all we want yet STILL be wrong. of all things, chopper going monster chopper? Luffy becoming Nightmare Luffy? Zoro using ashura on kaku at last moment's notice ( specifically ashura, since we knew ZOro wasn't gonna die)? Gear 2 and Gear 3? Oz STILL surviving all the shit he went though? SHadow ASgard? Kuma Sparing the Mugiwaras? lots of incredible occurrences I definitely would not have thought would happen!

I think Kishimoto is SLOWLY starting to learn that keeping people guessing makes people want to see Naruto more. Because now I really didn't expect Orochimaru of all things to pop out. and I didn't expect a sword with infinite genjutsu either.

Bleach is just meh.

bleach < digimon :zaru

Generally speaking, I think it's because it keeps us highly entertained. Hell, who would say what they're reading is addicting when they themselves don't enjoy it? I mean it's just that simple. Well yes, genres, demographics and such counts.... I can write an essay of an explanation, but I personally won't bother to write something that long when my reason itself can be put into a single sentence.

Or maybe you're just overzealous? :LOS
