Who joined first?

It is really hard to call. Even the anime isn't sure.

Sometimes in openings, endings, games, and what not, Nami is listed third, and sometimes she's listed fifth.
 
I thought this thread was going to be an Abbot and Costello bit.
 
Nami joined before Arlong park in Luffy's eyes. But also using the manga (aka. canon):

"Chapter 94: Second Person"

"Chapter 439: 3rd and 7th Person"

Nami Second and Usopp third. /thread
 
well actually it was Ussop first but Nami really didnt even join.. i remember her saying tht she will just accompany them so that she can achieve her dream of making a map of the world.
 
cuz they're all dumb. really.

i figured nami. we saw her first, she got on the boat first. she pwnt first.

also had sex first. but that's another tale~!............

Zoro is the first person, Nami is the second, Ussop is the third

Luffy doesn't count, Oda clearly states that Nami is the second in his chapter titles there's no reason to debate this.

Yes I know Zoro was first to join, that's why I said Nami was second, and Usopp was third....:facepalm

Also I don't see how Luffy can join his own crew...

The manga disagrees with your opinion. Nami is called "the second person" Usopp is called "the third person" that is the order they joined. They "officially" joined when they started to travel with Luffy.

Also even by your logic Usopp did not join until Franky did.

Well if I remember right of the order of the crew who join Luffy, the first person is Zoro, the second person is Nami, the third person is Ussop, the fourth person is Sanji, the fifth person will be Chopper, the sixth person will be Robin, the seventh person is Franky and the eight person is Brook. smile-big

No she didn't join. She joined after Usopp joined. She was like Vivi in their ship. She didn't agree to join until after Arlong arc. That's the fact.

No Usopp never left.

Why isn't Nami the first then? She was the first person Luffy saw.
 
Yeah, in anime filler. In the manga Nami didn't first appear till the Buggy arc. And once again:

Luffy asked her to be his navigator and she said "fine, I will work with you guys" ....

The three(Luffy, Zoro and Nami) of them arrive at Usopp's village in search of a boat ...

so Nami joined before Usopp.

Not only showing that Usopp left, but also he says "I only went because [Luffy] invited me" basically saying he never "officially" joined the crew by your logic. Also something that Luffy said to Usopp that he didn't say when any other member "left" the crew:


Luffy officially saying goodbye, saying he is no longer a member of the crew.

Sorry Teach but I have no clue what manga you are reading where these events happened as you think they did. Especially weird since your logic with Nami "never really joining the crew" doesn't apply to Usopp as well.

Either way they are listed as "The Second person"(Nami) and "The Third Person"(Usopp) by the mangaka himself, so I don't see how you could argue this.
 
Yea I guess she was 2nd but I didn't consider her as a member until after Arlong park, that's only logical.

Fact is that she didn't agree till Arlong arc finished. But Oda disagrees.
