What “rare pairs” or “crack ships” do you like/think actually would work?

Terms I very seldom hear around as I dont frequent fanfic circles or Tumblr or anything similar (unless here counts) but it came up when I was chatting with my sister (who does) about how trash Boruto be these days and she asked me.

Idk how pairing threads usually go, but I imagine all will be fine

For those who, like me, arent exactly versed in the terminology

A rarepair is a term for a pairing or shipthat is rare in a fandom. It is not featured in many fanworks and makes up a only small proportion of the overall total. A rare pair may be canon, but is often not. Some pairings may be shipped by a lot of fans, but be uncommon in fanworks.

So an example could be like…Sasuke x Hanabi I guess. Or a canon rare pair would almost certainly have been Choji x Karui because where the actual fuck did that come from.

As for crack…

crackship (plural crackships) (fandom slang) A ship that is canonically implausible, bizarre, or humorous.

So like Hinata x Obito or something else equally as weird and cringe.

So what would yours be that are your guilty pleasure that you think you could stretch the story to make work

I remember them being a semi-popular ship back in the day. Some people liked to cite scenes of Kiba appearing on the scene to scold Ino or Sasuke when the former was showing moments of care or emotion (putting it simply) for the latter.

But it didn't gain a lot of traction due to several factors:

1.) Sakura's Love for Sasuke remained unwavering

2.) NaruSaku gaining popularity in Shippuden

3.) Lee all but fading into the background after Part 1. I mean, outside of that one Tsukuyomi Dream, was his crush on her even brought up at all in Shippuden? (Rock Lee SD doesn't count)


Not to mention that ship got sunk pretty early on with Lee betting that he would win Sakura's love if he caught all the falling leaves only to miss the last leaf when decided to rescue a Squirrel instead

Because Gaara was the biggest (and only) fight Lee got in the entire series. But 99% of the Sakura fans doesn't see any appeal in Lee to ship him with their fav.

Appearence/personality has everything to do.

Sasuke didn't even talked to Hinata and SasuHina is incredibly popular easily suparssing even the "canon" couples like Minato/Kushina, Asuma/Kurenai, Shikamaru/Temari and many others. If Kishimoto really wanted a true "rival" against SS/NH in his pairings trollings. SasuHina would be serious threat.

Kishimoto didn't make any option to Hinata besides Naruto and Karin was too much unpopular to be Sasuke's pairing.
But SasuHina could easily suparss NH/NS and even SS.

Isn't too hard.
Just Kishimoto introducing some random flashback showing Sasuke interating/saving Hinata at some point during their childhood.
Hinata being tired of Naruto stupidity and blushing for Sasuke when he appear at the war.
Not to mention they have entire clan/Doujutsu/Personality similarities. They are even more good looking together than SS

This really would case much more shipping wars than anything at the moment.
