Tsukiyomi! Not the Jutsu it claims to be...

I just occurred to me that i can't recall this jutsu has only been used on people with the sharingan. Why? I can only be led to believe that maybe its not the powerful hax everyone makes it out to be. Maybe it can only be used on Uchiha.

If so then perhaps it is possible for normal folk to fight an Uchiha, a little easier. Maybe someone like Guy could not just be a close match for a sharingan user, but actually someone who can annihilate a Sharingan user.
 
its only a coincidence that itachi has used tsukoyomi on kakashi and sasuke. he's probably done it on other people and anyway kakashi isnt an uchiha

but another explanation might be he doenst even need to go that far against non uchihas when he can go normal genjutsus

but now it was all clear and fine with sasuke

he shouldve given sasuke 72 hours of pain like he did kakashi
 
i realize that but the fact still stands, the earth was flat until it was sailed around and proven round. Same goes for Tsukiyomi. Until in the manga it is used against a non Uchiha then this topic is still up for debate

there was a lot of cubism and weird squares when sasuke broke freee at least
 
Only someone with the same kekkeigenkai can break or survive it!

yeh I've always just assumed he's never used it on anyone else coz he's never needed to.
 
lol, normal sharingan genjutsu is enough for non-Uchiha. Only those that carry the Uchiha blood are worthy enough for Tsukiyomi. (and Kakashi too)

You are wrong: 8 year old Sasuke did not have the Sharingan, and he took it twice in one night.

And Kakashi seemed to think that he could have used Tsuyukomi on Naruto, Chiyo or Sakura, when they fought his clone. Itachi said that the only reason he did'nt was because he could'nt use it at all, and that was only because because he was using a Clone and he did'nt have enough Chakra.

It seems that only strong minded people have a chance of surving tsukyomi. If that Justu was used on a weak minded person chances are that person would be brain dead
 
I think it's not that it won't work, but that only an Uchiha/Kakashi would dare to look at Itachi's eyes. Everyone else strong enough for Itachi to use Tsukiyomi on won't ever get caught by it.
 
Itachi Never used his MS one anybody except Kakashi and Sasuke. That's you're reason.


(He didn't use it on Naruto right xD? that was a normal Genjutsu ?)

It is not only intended for Sharingan users as Sasuke did not have his sharingan at the age of six, also it is not only intended for the Uchiha. As seen in Itachi's first battle versus Konoha he was about to use Tsukuyomi when Kakashi stepped in and took it head on. I believe that it culd have been intended for Kurenai, or anyone else present. It was also capable of such when Naruto and Co. faced off with Itachi's clone, even though this clone did not have enough chakra.

It is probably only showcased to those with the Shraingan to emphasize its power as the Sharingan helps with precision and detail it is easier to counter/utilize genjutsu. BUt as stated by Itachi, it appears only those with Uchiha blood have a chance against it.
 
kisame knew about tsukoyomi and wondered how kakashi still alive... so unless itachi used it on an uchiha/sharingan user before while kisame was around, he shouldnt know about its effect;

the fact he did proves he used it on other non-sharingan users before;
 
What conditions validate the use of this jutsu at all?
- Facing multiple opponents and taking out 1-2 of the more powerfull ones with Tsukiyomi would quickly turne the tide of battle in favor of the jutsu user (vs Konoha joinin team)
- No time for normal illusions (annihilation of the clan)
- The opponent is resistant to illusion jutsus (vs. Sasuke/ Kakashi)
 
but think about it. If Itachi was smart which he is, Why not totally obliterate someone with it. Why always use it on guys who have to ability to counter it.

Sharingans can break through normal genjutsu fairly easily. For Itachi to have ANY hope of a genjutsu being very effective on a sharingan user, it would have to be Tsuiyomi (or possibly the frogsong or something else hella powerful). Having the sharingan doesn't mean you will break out of it, it only means you have the potential to do so, whereas someone without it is more or less screwed.
 
Anyone who doesn't have sharingan is instantly turned into a groveling pile of terminated fetuses.

Kakashi said that the only reason he endured tsuki was because he had the sharingan. This kinda implies he'd be DEAD otherwise.
 
and didnt itachi use tsukiyomi on orochimaru? but the thing i want to really know is, what is the main difference besides time w/tsukiyomi and normal genjutsu?
