The Human Internet

Specter Von Baren

A Ghost In The Machine
Do we humans have a sort of subconscious human network? Like... do certain ideas somehow transfer to many different people all over the world?

Telekenesis is a heavily believed in and studied topic, you might be interested in putting the word through a search engine.

But it's not really telekinesis, this is more of a global sort of thing. Like, ideas are shared between people in completely different countries. I remember seeing this idea in a movie in school that was... like.... a weird sort of dream with cell shading and lots of theoretical stuff.

Its' like.... how two people in completely different places can end up making the same invention at the same time or how certain styles can become popular even if someone doesn't even know what is the current style.

I see that happening by chance. There are over 6 billion people in the world, the chance that an invention that you are making isn't being thought of by someone in China or something is smaller than you think.

Though I have thought of this sort of thing before, unless I see something concrete about it, I won't believe that it could happen.

What... like subconscious telepathy? ... No. I believe that there are many extraordinary coincidences, though. :p But then... meh... I'm too tired... my brain is mush... I'll write more tomorrow if someone else hasn't already posted what I was going to say... whatever it was...

It's a very conscious network: ideas get transferred when people talk to each other.

Then there's the fact that some ideas, when placed together, make some deductions necessary. This is, imho, the reason why sometimes different people invent the same thing at the same time, although they're separated by thousands of kilometers. They had access to the same or to similar information, spread by traditional means; thus they ended up with the same conclusions.

Hhm.... :oh I'd say that sounds like the best explanation.

It's simply the collective unconscious. It's not an actual form of telepathy in which people are thinking the same thing through the linking of minds, but just the idea that people in similar societies will usually come to similar conclusions on multiple subjects.

I definitely agree.

Truthfully, as large as the world seems, with population, diversity, culture, religion, and every other factor . . . the world is still, in a sense, small.

Well if you are talking about communication in a non-physical and non-visible form between us, then it's not certain. While no one has been able to definitely prove that what you are talking about exists, no one has been able to definitely prove that what you are talking about doesn't exist. Considering that we don't fully understand the details of all the channels and networks our neurons and such create, we can't claim to make any statements on this.
