Sasuke wasn't supposed to get revenge

Lord of Darkness
He didn't really kill Itachi, which is what kishi wanted. I think he will realise that revenge consumed him or something like that.

I agree. I would definitely like to see Sasuke come to a realization that he threw everything away for power, and next to Itachi, even after all that time he trained, he was unable to defeat him completely.

I don't think that he didn't kill him because technically he was the cause of Itachi's death for pushing him to such a point only to burn out shortly. It was more like that the way Sasuke envisioned his brother's death never happened and instead it happened in a completely unexpected way that has rattled Sasuke to the core and start to change is outlook on things. Hence why Kishi made Itachi die like that and wouldn't prefer any other way.

Yep, Sasuke won the technical victory, and I doubt this is what he wanted. So I suppose Sasuke has finally gotten his "just desserts". He pushed everything aside in order to seek revenge upon Itachi and will never get the chance to deliver the final blow to him.

I don't think it was the final blow that mattered, but more on how it was delivered if Sasuke got his he possibly wouldn't be feeling even half of the emotions he's feeling now courtesy of Itachi's mumble and his last finger poke.

True, now that Sasuke has finally killed his bigger brother, he didn't seem to be too happy about it. Normally when a manga character acheives there ultimate revenge they go into a maniac laughter of some sort, but Sasuke was just petrified. He seemed to be sad, and realized that revenge isn't worth it.

With all that training, lusting for power, cutting bonds.Even with his ultimate jutsu he was still no match for itachi.Kishi hasn't forgotten what he had kakashi teach sauske.I feel a big ass flashback coming up soon lol.

I'll have to agree with Raiden. When I read the chapter and saw Itachi give the classic finger poke before passing out, I really did get the same feeling as when he did it before. It was like a kind taunt, and Sasuke can never get him back for it. A pretty empty victory, just as Kakashi predicted.

IDK.

Would be kinda dumb. Itachi finally being dead and proved Sasuke's "vision" right and then suddenly having an "OMG, Kakashi was right, i feel so empty" flashback would feel kinda cheap.

I think its more likely that he will think about the clan and his parents more than anything else.

thats what made Sasuke's goal so worthless :p

Flashbacks wouldn't be necessary, since I'd say this would be a better lesson for the readers. After this, I don't think they'll even be much speech or emotion on his part all. The look on his face will tell the story.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. Later on Itachi will tell some other secrets that might make Sasuke feel remorse/regrets of trying to take a revenge.

Rather he was influenced or not, Itachi still had a hand in their parent's murder and he wanted to take his brother's eyes for his own selfish gain. Sasuke deserved to kill him even though it was him pushing Itachi to the point of collapsing that did it...

Well Sasuke threw away everything. He threw the village who took care of him and his team which was like his surrogate family just for power. When he finally got that power it still wasn't enough to kill Itachi with his own hands. He basically had to let Orochimaru save him and he was at his brother's mercy only to win by luck. Hell he even threw away his minions when they no longer serve their usefulness. If what Kakashi said becomes reality then Sasuke has truly received his punishment.

I'm curious of where his character will go and I hope Sasuke can stop being an Itachi clone and open up. I must rather see his character and personality develop instead of seeing endless battle to make him look good while the focus is still on him.

Somehow I think that Sasuke didn't really think he could beat his brother, his face in the last few panels seem to be showing shock...or something like that. Or maybe it just that he can't believe it's over.

i feel kinda sorry for sasuke after all that he lost everything (sakura, naruto ect) and he can never kill itachi now itachi just killed himself so kinda suckish for sasuke

Sasuke wasn't supposed to get revenge

He, just like any other fodder nin, wasn't spoused to live for more than 5 manga panels either but Kishi grew fond of drawing duck butts :(

Well if that was his "just dessert" then LMAO

he can still kill madara, the route of all trouble. :LOS

That smile on Sasuke's face after Itachi fell was enough to say that though it didn't happen the way he wanted it to happen, he's still satisfied, especially considering it was Kirin that almost killed Itachi and pushed him beyond his limits at the time anyway.

One BIG question about sasuke....... Why the *beep* does he still have both eyes? didn't Itachi pluck one eye out and put it in a beaker??? very weird...

That was Itachi's genjutsu, if I recall correctly.

Anyway, Sasuke is awfully silent in the latest chapter and I believe it's because he feels empty inside. He accomplished his goal of killing Itachi (anti-climactic as it was, which was probably a huge disappointment to Sasuke who wanted some sort of epic slaughtering type revenge), so now what does he have? Nothing. He threw everything away for this one goal. He can't go back to Konoha very easily as he is a wanted criminal there; he deserted his village and his comrades and defected to the enemy. Sure, he didn't cause Konoha any direct harm, but he's still a deserter. I'm sure it'd be hard for him to face his teammates again after all that's happened as well. He severed all bonds with them three years ago.

So what's he going to do now? I figured he'd want to find out more about Tobi/Madara. Somewhere down the line, I imagine he would like to restore his clan. A farfetched theory that's come to my mind is that he'll take over Otogakure (since he killed Orochimaru) and make it an Uchiha-ruled village, then he'll find himself a mate (Karin? I doubt Sakura would desert her village even for Sasuke, though who knows?) and make little baby Uchihas, who can then go on to find mates of their own and make even more Uchihas, etc. Of course, most of us are probably hoping that Sasuke will decide to return to Konoha and that he'll be pardoned by Tsunade (I can just picture Naruto begging and nagging Tsunade to pardon Sasuke) and then Sasuke can carry on as a Leaf shinobi once again.

But right now, Sasuke is probably feeling very empty inside. He gave up everything only to just barely achieve his ultimate goal and now he has nothing. He's probably wondering what he should do with his life now. I don't think Sasuke has become a bad guy though; he tries to avoid killing people whenever possible (unless it's someone deserving like Orochimaru or Itachi) and he freed all of Orochimaru's prisoners. Sasuke's still a good guy underneath, so there is hope for him.
