Guys, think with me a second;
I wanna talk about Sai. The guy who has seemingly dropped off the edge of the world. Just how strong is he?
We know that he was handpicked by Danzou as part of Team Kakashi. He is a member of ANBU Root, a splinter faction who hold some authority in the shinobi world.
- Danzou said he is strongest of his age group.
- Danzou could have picked anyone from Root but chose Sai. Root is strong enough to continue to exist despite their goals, so this puts Sai high up already on the food chain.
- Sai beats a Jinchuuriki, a genius and Chouji by himself.
- He is a master of sneaking, as shown by his infiltration of Oro's layer
- His ink techs allow him to do things no one else can e.g. send covert messages, a search team of rats, create a bird to fly, or spam a field with beasts. All of this done in less than a second.
- During Sasuke vs Team Konoha, he moved as fast as Sasuke and was able to block a sword strike intended for Naruto. This seems to be glossed over because it was the chapter of the return of 'OMG SASKAYKUUN KAWAAAAAI!'.
- Kabuto the genius Tsunade-level medic, who get the better of Kakashi and Tsunade, who is capable of casting genjutsus affecting thousands of people simultaneously. Sai was able to beat him to allow Yamato to tie him up.
- Kakashi says: 'what a guy' and then proceeds to jerk his abilities off when they face off in SAsuke's hospital room.
From all this we can gather that he is greater in skill than Kabuto, who is greater than Kakashi himself. Also his little interaction was able to show me that he was faster than Sasuke in that he was able to see what was about to happen, move and react to Sasuke's attack.
If I were to rank him in the Konoha Genin 12 list, I'd say he is second, just above Rock and way below Neji.
