It made him human again to me, and not the ninja who is supposedly perfect. He felt fear once again which shows that there is development to be done. I'm pretty sure by the end of this manga, he'll be facing something greater but this time won't be afraid like he was there.

this is nothing new, Sasuke always acted scared like shit when confronted to this kind of situation.

I don't think he was actually "scared stiff" at all if you pay closer attention. He was stiff, but that's because Susanoo's shield had him totally pinned against the wall. The shuffling and the "Nnh-" was precisely him struggling against Susanoo's shield. That's why he couldn't get away or try to stab Itachi even though Itachi was moving very slowly toward his eyes.

Moreover, it's paying close attention to the manga. Sasuke suddenly can't move, and then you see Sasuke shuffling before he has some big "oh shit" realization. The big "oh shit" realization? "I can't move".
I mean, it's not as funny, but it's what happened.
