watch the differences:
before:standing
after:fully laid

before:blod from eyes ony
after:heavy blood from mouth

there is a CLEAR damage that itachi took.susanoo might not be full-proof.
itachi might have won if it wasn't for kirin.
 
The damage that Itach took from Kirin must've been alot, to leave Itachi in the state that he was in before activating Susanoo. He did say that if he hadn't use Susanoo's barrier he would have been oblitirated. So I guess it was the combination of Susanoo draining Itachi's chakra,and the aftermath of the Kirin attack. But if that is the case, then that means Itachi trying to stabilize Susanoo gave him a heart attack.

I mean that when Itachi did the Susanoo Technique,he was taking a long time to actually get the job done. He played around with Orochimaru for a bit,but then quickly sealed him off. Then he sais to Sasuke in the recent chapter, that he wants to take his time, and savor the moment, fully knowing that the Susanoo was taking alot of chakra from him at an alarming rate.
 
Itachi activated Susanoo right at the same time when Sasuke called Kirin.
Since Susanoo was in its skeletal form, it was weaker, and Itachi took some damage from that too, then, i guess :zaru

It's a good point actually.
if itachi's contition was really that bad,why was he wasting time?

It's possible, but I'm more inclined to believe that Susano blocked it, and Itachi died from something else.
 
That's a nice theory but Itachi was already spitting up blood from when he was stopping and restarting Amaterasu.

yes,i noticed that.but we need to consider the immidiately before and after kirin scenarios.Also,the condition after kirin was MUCH worse than the picture you posted.It wasn't a faint line of blood,it was actually blood tripping from his mouth and you can see it

At best it aggravated what was already happening.
 
yah, looks like itachi could not defend that completely...and think about, we had one small "mountain", and it all gone...when we see itachi on the floor...damn, wonder the hit that was the kirin...


as itachi said, the kirin would have oblitarated him...

i wonder if kirin is sasuke's "that jutsu".but his pose was different.
 
Itachi had blood on his forehead despite Susuano protecting him from Kirin. Other than that, it didn't seem to affect him at all. If Kirin was in some way eventually going to take out Itachi due to after effects, Sasuke would have been more confident instead of shaking.
 
Blood from the mouth most likely equates to damage from using Susano'o.

If Tsukiyomi and Amaterasu carry such riks then the 3rd Jutsu would surely carry a much bigger one, no?
 
The damage was done from him summoning susano-o or whatever and from his MS failing completely, not from Kirin.
 
If Itachi took damage from Kirin he would be dead. He activated Susano'o, and that basically took to much of a risk in his current condition. Though Itachi had no choice but to activated Susano'o because of Kirin, you can think it lead to him using up it...and his downfall
 
He definitely took some damage from it, like the very beginning of the jutsu snuck through before susanoo could block it. I think he just ran out of chakra from using all of his MS jutsu's in one fight.
 
Perhaps the massive amount of energy used to summon Susano put a strain on Itachi's already weary body. That could be an excellent explanation for his difference in composure in the two panels.
 
If Orochimaru didn't come out right when he did, Sasuke would have been obliterated. And by the looks of it Oro survived aswell :zaru

And I thought no genius could even compare to the genius of an Uchiha :rofl Somthing about flying in the talons of a hawk :laugh GUESS NOT!

Itachi owned himself with the help of Orochimaru and Sasuke. But tards still claime Sasuke kicked his ass :rofl
 
it was probably using susano for a lengthened period of time. okay he needed to initiate it to survive kirin, but oro probably eat at his chakura more.

if anything itachi killed itachi.
