to be honest it seems like the haters seem to be everyone but the Sasuke fans. It's not too surprising since Sasuke is the only character this manga ever does anything with. No wonder the hordes of people that fap to him would love this shit.

I do not hate Kishimoto, just his direction:
-Too many good characters die
-Focusing too much on Sasuke (ironically, he's the most difficult character Kishimoto draws) and Sakura
-Not enough screentime with Naruto and Hinata (along with other Naruto girls)
-Waiting too long for pairings to be canon (I understand that it's not a shoujou series, but still)
-Ignoring Naruto's other goals besides bringing Sasuke home and only giving Naruto 2 techniques! And saying "Narut just has to wait". I thought the series is called "Naruto"! >.>

Kishi seems to be stuck on this weird idea that for the younger generation to grow and develop character, that their mentors have to be killed off.

THere's quite a few other things that really piss me off as well. Most which has already been stated. A big one for me are the locales. Such a giant world, but we've barely seen any of it. Just trees, deserts, and more landscapes. Where's the creativity?

I'm not even going to get into Naruto's "development" in part 2.

Now that I think about it, I'm not disappointed by what he has done or not done, but how he has done things.

For example, the way he hypes his characters.

Asuma was a jounin of Konoha, and right before his demise, we learn he has a huge bounty and is part of 12 monks or something. After his fight, I could only conclude he was lame. I couldn't even blame Hidan to kill a fodder level ninja like Asuma.

Pein's hype was lame, right before his fight against J-man, you learn he has defeated one of the strongest shinobi of the narutoverse, when during all the manga they never miss an opportunity to tell you konoha's hokages are the strongest. And he has changed his body because he considered the threat as serious.
He almost died and needed to use all his bodies.

Naruto's hype is the most hilarious, "you're stronger than me". Lol there are no strong evidences to prove that statement, it's just a lame way to make you believe Naruto is still on league with strong shinobis.
The "key" is the only thing Kishi could come up with to justify Naruto's future power up. Like hell it helps to have the strongest chakra powerhouse in your body.

Oh well so many flaws in this story, I'll finish with the overexxaggeration of the underdog notion in Naruto, he failed 3 times the Academy exam, yet he's in the same team than shinobis of his age. I could forgive Naruto to be stupid in part 1, but with all the resolve he made before the timeskip, what was shown so far in part 2, he seriously lacks maturity and brain.
Who the hell is this kid chasing someone named Sasuke?

Been a while I could say I enjoy reading this manga cause of all this nonsense, this is why I hate Kishi today. :pek

What's even funnier is that none of this stuff about Asuma was even brought up in part 1. It's like Kishimoto dumped in all that development just so people would give a shit that he died. Cause otherwise I doubt anyone would have cared.

I agree with Pein. Not to mention that his flashback completely ruined him as a cool villain. He's just another emo bishounen. Like that's anything new for this series.

And yeah Naruto's hype is lame. He doesn't gain any new jutsu during the timeskip or anything. He just comes back, gives Kakashi a porn book, and then shows that the only thing he has learned is a bigger rasengan and unleasihing more kyuubi tails. I mean seriously just WTF? Even Sakura improved more than that and she did nothing during part 1.

hey at least it is better than a name like "Very Big rasengan"... :laugh

Well that name already exists (Oodama Radengan)by the way another jutsu he only used once.
(Sorry for answering so late but due to the time shift i unfortunately cant respond that quickly)

I agree. Why does most of every chapter have to be empty panels? I mean seriously we're not sitting here and reading the series just to look at empty panels.

All I want to know is what the Naruto readers over in Japan are saying about Kishi's work...you guys could sit here and moan and groan all you want but...I'm sure Kishi does not care what people outside of Japan think of his story. Does anyone know what the general Japanese population has/had to say about these recent developments?

I'm pretty sure there are just as many critics over there as there are here, probably even more.

Really getting tired of how criticism is being characterized...Listen, I, and I'm pretty sure most of us here, don't expect Kishi to know nor care about the issues we may have with his series. That's fine, because it doesn't stop us from discussing amongst ourselves what issues we may have with this series. That's the purpose of a forum after all, discussion.

I said nothing about keeping people from complaining...I don't care if they do or not, no skin off my nose. I just want to know if people in Japan are as harsh on Kishi as some people on this board are...because they are the only ones that can motivate Kishi to do a better job...hell maybe even force him to hire a proof reader so that he won't contradict himself as often...

I wouldn't think criticism from Japan would change anything. I mean, look at many American comic book series for example. Alot of the authors of those series only regard their vision of the story, not the fans. This is probably the same in the manga business.

What you also have to consider is corporate meddling and editing staffs. They have direct influence and control. They can convince or force an author to take a direction in a series that the author never initially wanted to, or at all. Look at Kishi's recent interview saying where he was forced to write more of Hebi, even though he didn't want to.

I understand...well I have a basic understanding the mechanics behind the manga buisness, that is not what I am asking about. You are probably correct about Kishi's stubbornness regarding his vision. Even still you cannot completely ignore your customer and be successful I don't think. In any event, I don't care about any of miner details, I just want to know what the general consensus in Japan is. I'm not arguing with you...I am curious as to what is going on over there.

I'm afraid I can't say what his Japanese fans think. I can only assume there are mixed opinions just like in the west.

I guess I have been getting a little heated. Especially at the ignorant fans that try to pass Naruto off as the greatest thing ever when it's obvious they've never read anything else, and their only anime experience is probably anything on cartoon network meaning DBZ...

I mean if you cut out all those people I probably wouldn't complain so much about Naruto or it's fans. To be honest I probably wouldn't really fucking care about what's happening in Naruto anyjmore.

Sort of like what I've been doing with Bleach since soul society ended. If I've ever insulted Bleach that's more of because everyone else has been doing it.

If you really want, there's a very long running critics thread on 2ch (though its not like 2ch represents the real readership of the manga)
Phil Thompson loves it.

Though, bashing threads over there tend to be very immature and most of the manga have some critics thread devoted to each one. Personally, there are some things I'm disappointed in the manga, and everyone has the right to make criticisms, but ultimately its his manga because its been running so long I doubt any "intervention" will make him change his story or character development or what not, unless its popularity takes a dive for some time.

I could care less about character development, Kishi's self contradictions is what gets on my nerves. When you said immature you were not kidding I could not even make sense of what "Sage" wrote...and the format is confusing...thanks for the link anyway.
NARUTO is stupid to think that people's conversations.

I don't know, I guess I will do some investigating on my own some other time. I understand that Kishi probably will not change his story for anyone, I did not imply that he should...I just want him to do a better job writing the rest of the series.

Well we each like M.K. to improve on different fronts:amuse, I don't know if he just does it out of laziness or outright neglect. Anyway, yeah I agree there's some improvement left to be desired. LOL those crazy 2cher's

Actually I disagree that the story has gotten worst because Kishi is to stubborn to change his story. I think it's quite the opposite. I believe he has changed his story according to character popularity.

An example of that, is what many people have already mentioned. Kishi's statement, that he is forced to write more of team Hebi.

Also, it's no secret that Sasuke is the most popular character in the series, in japan, thus taking so much panel time, while Orochimaru, who is the less likable character, only gets panel time to be humiliated by the most popular characters in the series. Not to mention that he is forced to prolong the series, so he is making things up just for that, reinforced with empty panels.

Kishimoto has changed his story and it is quite obvious, I think, by the way Orochimaru lost from Itachi the second time. What purpose did Oro serve in the series by being trapped in Sasuke's body? Deidara's defeat? That was just a show off fight to hype Sasuke up. Other than killing off Deidara, Oro's capture in Sasuke's body had no meaning whatsoever. I think Kishi changed his mind in the process and just wanted Oro out of Sasuke and he invented a sword we have never heard of, just to get rid of Orochimaru.

Kishi is trying to provide fan service and that has screwed up his story.
