Informative Naruto & Boruto Sales Figures

Great? no, the very definition of mediocre going closer to bad.

But the fact that is in V-jump the manga is almost protected against cancelation even if it goes as low as 100k.
I mean though, it isn't as one of the best sales of the magazine? I don't like Boruto and I don't follow the numbers, but at least Boruto and the anime are doing decently, specially considering the poor writing

So, actually the Boruto manga is doing great? I mean, the sales at higher than I expected even despite not being as big as Naruto

Bruh its a 90% drop from Naruto and got kicked out of Shonen Jump for being such a flop. The only thing keeping Boruto alive is the Naruto association.

Ah thank you. Actually I read the sales wrongly. I actually understood that each volume sold 10k+ and I was "wow". Lmao But it was my mistake.

Actually Boruto is a total waste of potential and an uninspired story. I know a lot of fans and fanction writers that could come with more interesting stuff

Vol.14 has managed to stay in the TOP200 and close the gap with past volumes a bit over the last couple of weeks.

Predictably, Boruto didn't rank in Oricon's regular half-yearly rankings. No extended rankings have been leaked. The prospects of Boruto getting ample data from Oricon don't look that good tbh, especially as its sales keep declining and other series' backlogs keep getting boosted.

I really wonder if Kishi ever feels genuine regret over the way Boruto has gone. Maybe he has too much money to care.

I mean I doubt Kishi cares that much... He sent us Ikemoto and took the better artist for his other flop manga after all.

And he has made zero interviews since "he took over" the manga back.

Well...

I don't know about cancellation but the main problem with the manga is how they don't develop characters and expect the anime to fill for them.

From what you people talk, the anime also changes many manga scenes which kind of creates a more developed canon that desestimulates people from following the manga.

Anyhow, the main appeal in OG Naruto was how characters were portrayed in a profound fashion and received detailed flashbacks explaining their world view.

Boruto's characters are all underdeveloped, not a single character besides Kawaki received a proper flashback and they kind of fight and die for shallow reasons.

What's worse is that the plot is a mess, Isshiki was the mastermind behind Kara and he already died leaving a huge plot hole on how Kawaki has karma in the future much less giving a hint on how the adopted son of Naruto becomes evil.

Naruto has almost died thrice, one to Momoshiki and twice to Isshiki and it has gotten to the point that losing Kurama makes it even less likely that they are going to really kill him.

Still, BORUTO is still one of the most widely read Mangaplus licenses. The Mangaplus Editor confirms it. BORUTO is in the top 10.

Makes sense. :hm

The top 10 (in no particular order): One Piece, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Black Clover, Dr. Stone, Spy X Family, Monster #8, Dragon Ball Super, Boruto and Choujin X.

He notes that 3 of those (Spy X Family, Choujin X and Monster #8) are newer works that haven't yet gotten anime, which is what tends to increase popularity overseas. He also notes those 3 are WEB-based serialisations that don't have pre-release pirated versions.

I want to clarify that in the tweet he talks about the month of May, and not in total!
However, excellent news remains for the Boruto manga!

This data is about the popularity outside Japan, is obvious that Boruto is popular abroad, this forum is a proof of that, here in my country the manga is the second best seller of the biggest publisher.

I really wonder if Kishi ever feels genuine regret over the way Boruto has gone. Maybe he has too much money to care.

Of course he does. He sold his franchise to the suits at WSJ, desperately hoping that Ikemoto and co would ensure the series didn't totally wreck itself.

Well it turns out Ikemoto and Pedodachi are hacks, and so 90% of the Naruto fandom gives no fucks about Boruto. Imagine that. 90% of your fans just outright reject your sequel.

You go from being one of the best selling mangas of all time, WSJ's golden boy, getting anime movies and games every year to getting kicked out WSJ for poor sales, no movies or notable games in years and the fans of the original actively hate your cashgrab sequel.

If Kishi ever wants to regain his reputation (he doesn't need to considering he's a multimillionaire), he needs to fix the Naruto franchise. Lets be honest, Samurai 8 shows there's little hope Kishi making another breakout hit.

I always argued that the anime was boruto’s saving point, and it seems that we are getting closer to that reality.

By saving point, do you mean having such bad ratings that it got kicked out of the prime time slot and hasn't had a single anime movie or OVA in 5 years :kobeha

Well...

Central problem with Boruto is that Naruto wasn't planned to have a sequel.

The end blamed all the world's problems on alien intervention, joined the most popular pairings even without development and finally gave Naruto the hat he wanted with Sasuke somehow becoming his lapdog because he got beaten.

There was little to no plot left to develop but instead of calling it a day and letting people move on they decided to make a movie about Naruto's son and then a full blown sequel because the movie was a success.

The current result is that Boruto's story is stuck with aliens of shallow motivations and simping cyborgs serving those aliens without much explanation.

I for one came to the conclusion that Naruto defeating Sasuke really killed any potential interesting conflict of a sequel or part 3.

If they wanted to keep expanding the setting with new characters as the MCs then Sasuke should have killed Naruto and plunged the world into darkness.

Evil Sasuke would have been a much cooler long term villain for at least half the sequel and the alien threat would only come when the MCs surpassed Sasuke. Instead of pointlessly jobbing the previous MCs, the aliens and cyborgs would come as natural progression for the new MCs after they grew up and the main selling point of the series would be finding how they create real peace at least between themselves in the crazy universe that hates them.

joined the most popular pairings even without development
Ss and shikatema were the obvious ones, they had development throughout the series

nh could have been better but naruto ignored her after the pain confession

inosai...seems shallow when there was no real development besides a comment which he actually meant the opposite of

karui choji....Wtf?! Where did that even come from.

No movies is a blessing.
The delusional Bort stans mindset

Boruto dropping 90% is a blessing.
Boruto getting kicked out of WSJ is a blessing.
Boruto getting no standalone games is a blessing.
Boruto getting no movies is a blessing.
Boruto novels getting cancelled is a blessing.
