crazy idea: the manga plot will STOP and there'll be chapters introducing the new captains :S
 
Because Captains don't grow on trees.
Captain requirement = Bankai, Byakuya made it pretty clear that people with the ability to perform Bankai are really special & rare so don't expect them to be able to find replacements just like that.

The only 3 people who meet the requirements and are not exciled are Ichigo, Renji & Ikkaku, but yeah:

  • Ichigo is too busy living to become a Soul Society Captain any time soon.
  • Ikkaku refused.
  • And Renji...well, 1 down, 2 to go.
 
lol Ikkaku its far from fail, he just have a better reason in life been a member than a leader.
 
Renji is made of too much FAIL to be a captain.

Ikkaku is of less fail but he'd rather work under Kenpachi.

And Ichigo's got better things to do.

Ishida is a Quincy... and he hates Shinigami (supposedly).

Chad... lol

Rukia lol, though she could be a captain, her plot device powers are unrivaled.
 
Ichigo is also still alive, he'd have to permanently die, or remain forever in his shinigami form to be a captain. Meaning he'd have to give up his friends/family/life, you know :zaru

Ikkaku has personal reasons, and Renji is too attached to the bishie.

Isshin and Urahara should reclaim their positions :LOS
 
Spots are saved for the surviving Vizards, i say remaining because half of them are going to die in this next arc fighting Aizen and company.
 
Bankai Ikkaku was on par with one of Grimm's fraccion :oh
Probably Rukia with just Shikai would defeat him.

I'm assuming you say this because of the 9th espada? The one that completely dominated her but figured it would be a good idea to hold her right next to his glasshead weakspot?

Renji and Hitsugaya had trouble with their opponents as well, and Renji wasn't sure if he would of won without the limiter trick. Possibly applies to Hitsugaya but who knows, regardless rukia isn't as strong as those guys. Anyone of these guys could of beat glasshead assuming he did the same stupid shit as he did vs Rukia.

Yes, sadly, a filler character is more worthy of becoming a captain than any of the current Vice Captains. That vice captain is just terrible though, he looks like a sick cross between Szayel and Yumichika.

You mean the same one she could've easily beaten after using a binding Kidou and rendering him completely helpless? :zaru

unpatched kenpachi was on par with shikai ichigo but then later on in the story kills a mid tier espada with the supreme power of kendo!

since ikkaku is in the 11th division with ken il bet he knows more than a bit of kendo.

bankai + kendo more than qualifies him to be a captain!!! in fact ... im starting to think ikkaku is as overpowered as aizen :amazed

One thing here, Renji and Hitsugaya were limited from their true power, they had to lift the limit to win. Therefore ikkaku isnt even close to them, because he doesnt even have a limit, yet had to go bankai to win

As much as D-roy was fail on a stick, we have no idea how much of the arrancar's looking down on him was just posturing..the thing is..

if shikai > bankai then that = moreplotkai
 
There are very talented VC that can easy fill those spot.

Kira, his shikai is very good and his bankai is worth seeing.

Not at all.

There are three methods of becoming a Gotei 13 Captain. Only one requires Bankai.

The first method is to pass a standardized Captain proficiency tes witnessed by the Commander General and two other captains. The ability to perform Bankai is part of this test.

The second method is to be personally recommended by at least six captains and be approved by at least three of the remaining seven. Kenpachi notes that rarely is someone incapable of Bankai recommended so highly, but there's no firm requirement of Bankai.

The last method is to defeat a captain in a battle witnessed by at least 200 of the members of that captains division. No firm requirement here, but you'd have to be a freakishly strong Shinigami to defeat a captain without Bankai.
 
No one else is showing that they are worthy enough yet and that would take time away from the plot. We have already been missing it for 60 something chapters. :pek
 
Having bankai takes anywhere between infinity and two days, MASTERING bankai takes somewhere in the vicinity of ten years, or longer. There are captains who have yet to master their bankai, including the all-time-favorite known for Taking It Alone, so I can see no reason why Ikkaku couldn't be captain, except he won't allow for it. Renji, by the same logic, could also become a captain but his behavior and ties could potentially betray his loyalties to Soul Society. Rukia has barily met the stage where she's mastering her shikai, not a fucking prayer in the universe for her, and also she has history that's bad for captainship. In fact, Ol' Yamma might have nixed two or three More captains if he hadn't already lost three in a single day, just for concerns of dependability.

A rock-awsome captain is pretty damn hard to come by. Even the shittier captains in SS are not only powerful, but skilled, determined and Deeply loyal. Even batshit-insaneo-boy Kenpachi respects and obeys Yammamoto.

Also, given the current openings who out of the listed potentials would really be appropriate? We need someone to take absolute command of the Psychological Warfare division, the Peacekeeping division, and the Human Relations Division (if I got the numbers correct). If nothing else I don't think Psych is an easy fill.

this is the truth :pek 1 whole year of stupid fighting was bad enough as it is.....and no one has shown worth for that seat :vegetant
