Last " Harry Potter " book becomes 2 films !

The last Harry Potter book becomes 2 films. The first one is slated for release in Nov 2010 with part 2 following in May 2011.

Not real news? This is BIG news! Hehe. It is good though, I've been kinda hoping they'd do this. I loved the 5th film, I thought David Yates directed it beautifully, but there was so much important stuff missed out. Got high hopes for films 7 and 8 then. Though I hope they manage to get the whole cast back for that extra film.

Yeah, I thought the fifth film sorta sucked. Worst of the Harry Potter movies so far, in my opinion. There were things I wanted to see happen that were in the book that I thought were important that they totally left out. But, whatever. I'm not that big into Harry Potter anymore. Not enough, even, to read the last book.

Well yeah, thanks! I put my TV away in my cupboard because it talks crazy Japanese at me, so I don't really have a clue what's been happening in the world the last 7 months! I was actually checking out the cast list for HBP on wiki this morn. Couple of nice additions :)

Half Blood Prince should be a good movie. Snape is one of my fav characters.

Really ?? Cause on the news Warner Bros announced it this morning. You must have connections...

Why exactly would the last movie require more than one movie? The majority of the book was just him sitting in a tent not doing much and the ending blew.

Hehe, I thought this the first time I read it - it seemed like forever! The second time round though, it didn't seem partcularly long really. Strange. :huh

I'm surprised Yates is doing both these films too. Kinda hoped Alfonso whatsit who did POA would do another. I wish they could undo Chris Colombus' films. They blew :(

Smart fuckin move in my opinion. Wish they would've done this with the last two and Half-Blood Prince, cuz you know that one's gonna get a lot of shit cut out of it as well.

Anyways, can't wait :amuse

I can't imagine reading that book a second time. I hated it, it ruined the entire series for me. Harry never grew as a character nor did he even seem to significantly grow in power. The final battle was horrendous, Harry's duel with Draco in the second book was better.

I don't see what in this book they could possibly stretch into 2 movies.

I heard this a week ago or so. I'm not quite sure how they're going to stretch it out, but whatever.

I enjoyed it both times! I thought there was really good suspense - I was going crazy reading it! There's plenty to put in it:
Spoiler:
the Battle of Hogwarts is going to be EPIC I'm sure, and the scene at Gringotts should be fun smile-big

Maybe they'll also spend some time catching up on some important parts they've left out of other films, like the locket, and the mirror. Spend some more time on those flashbacks too I hope. People complained when they were too brief in OOP. Now they're actually gunna take the time to do the book justice and peeps still complain! :p

I'm going to quote myself form the dealthy hallows thread.

Spoiler:
First off we never get to see Voldemort doing anything that great. He sends his death eaters around and all we ever see is him trying to find the elder wand. I was expecting to see him raising armies of dark wizards, dementors, giants, dragons, goblins, inferi and anything else he could possibly get his hands on.

Second Harry shows almost no growth whatsoever. Throughout the entire series we see no growth as a character, he is exactly the same. Power-wise the last thing we saw him do that indicated growth was conjuring a patronus. When all was said and done he may not even be that powerful of a wizard (since it could have just been Voldemorts horcrux in him making him powerful in the first place).

The hogwarts battle was impressive for everyone except Harry who spent the entire fight running around and not really fighting.

I wanted to see Harry raise an army of wizards to confront Voldemort. A grand battle. I wanted to see Harry clad in magical armor (the goblins probably would have made him one since a lot of them were afraid of Voldemort too).

Another thing that pissed me off is Harry never tried to kill. Voldemort killed himself...AGAIN. He just used that stupid expelliarmus spell again after he was clearly told not to let it be his signature move.

You know what I wanted to see? I wanted to see Harry stab Voldemort with the sword of Griffyndor, then (since Ollivander said a wizard can channel magic through just about anything) cast Avada Kedava through the sword into Voldemort. And their wizard duel was pathetic, Harry's duel with Draco was 10 times more impressive. The castle should have been shaking under their power, they should have been sending spells back and forth through the whole fight. Instead they circled and talked.

Ditto that.

It pisses me off that I have to wait two fucking years just to get my Harry Potter. I would rather they just have the sixth movie come out and then the seventh a bit later...but what the hell.

FINALLY!

They should have started a few movies back but I guess 'better late then never'.

Let's hope at least this one is good.

Why couldn't they do it to HBP too....

Heard about this a while back, but that's good news I also hope that

Spoiler:
They don't kill the part with the Prince's Tale and not make it two seconds long like in the 5th movie :notrust

Is this just to make more money? or is the last book that big to deserve more screen time?
