I'm quite sure they wouldn't fight at all. Kisame's seawater + Gaara's sand = a beach.
Gaara would likely hire Kisame in order to create a beach in Sunagakure, turning his underdeveloped village into a touristic powerhouse.

Since WA Gaara isn't a Jinchūriki anymore, Kisame wouldn't have any reason to fight him, so he would probably accept the deal.

Kisame scales above him so he should curbstomps

Water is a natural enemy of Gaara sand it was shown during part 1 that it renders his ultimate defense useless

Kagutsutchi

The Honored one.
Gaara kills Kisame mid diff at worst.

He can fly and avoid Kisame and his attacks all day. Plus his sand can bury and seal if not crush the swordsman

If Kisame manages to get Gaara in the water sphere, it's over.

Suiton: Daikodan no Jutsu could also end the fight as well, as the attack absorbs chakra and Gaara would think he could defend against it, but it would just eat straight through Gaara's defense and 1 tap him.

Low Diff for Gaara. Gaara Sand is so much faster then Kisame it would just blitz him and since HG Realm had trouble absorbing the Sand quickly, Samehada which has been shown inferior in chakra absorbing would just take way too long and Kisame gets Sand Coffin’d before then

At 100m starting distance, Gaara is in the air with a sand Tsunami before water dome even gets close to him.

When is HG realm shown to be slow against sand?

Samehada ripped through V2 cloak in one swing and later Kisamehada drained it in a couple of panels upon contact. So it seems unlikely sand would somehow take longer.

Subterranean voyage negs any attempt at pinning Kisame.
They're at the cross between a desert and a giant body of water. Kisame going so far below water/sand is essentially him leaving the battlefield unless you mean he is going to dodge every attack by diving underground.

Subterranean voyage works by turning the earth around him into liquid. Gaaras sand is just earth/sand.

Against Madara; and HG Realm absorb V2 better then Samehada

Thé dôme itself doesn’t drain chakra why did you get that idea ?

Still not sure which moment you are referring to.

1. The sand on Madara's arm pretty much falls immediately after he activates Rinnegan to absorb FRS

2. Madara has little to no trouble absorbing chakra in Gaara's sand during the Gokage combo. It's just that without Gaara's chakra, the sand sticks to Madara anyway because he draws it in while absorbing Mei's water dragon.

Gaara is still controlling the Sand during the Water Dragon Combo on Madara; we clearly see him using it to position a sealing tag on Madara. So there is no way Madara absorb the chakra from Gaara Sand as otherwise he couldn’t control it. Your misinterpreting the scene.

Always been an interesting match
I wonder what happens if kisame fires daikodan and Gaara tries to block with sand
The Sand gets dismantled by a simple Kisame Suiton like 5 sharks this is a bad matchup for Gaara

For the Sand the Water do not very good according to science and Gaara ultimate defense would become Mud and being rendered useless

The tags seem to just follow where the sand goes, which follows where the water jutsu goes i.e. Madara.

If not, why does Mei say "if you don't like the sand, then stop absorbing the jutsu"? If Gaara could still control the sand to the extent you mentioned, it makes no difference whether Madara chooses to absorb the jutsu.

Gaara is holding out his hand controlling it; and we see the Tag move on Madara. Also if Gaara chakra couldn’t work on the Tag then it would be pointless anyway since he wouldn’t be able to seal Madara.

If Madara stops absorbing the Water-Dragon he could try to use another Jutsu to rid himself of the Sand like Susanoo, but then he would get paralyzed by the Water Dragon the moment he dropped Absorption
