Itachi Retreated From Jiraiya Because...

As Itachi stated against Sasuke, the sharingan can see chakra and Jiriaya has a dangerously amount of Chakra as stated by Pain:

Itachi could see what Pain saw with his sharingan and he made a wise decision. During his fight with Sasuke after using 4 techniques, Itachi is already spent. But during Jiriaya's fight with Pain, neither one of them ever ran out of Chakra. Running low on Chakra is the main reason Sasuke's in trouble right now, but Jiraiya wouldn't be anywhere close to being out of Chakra at this point in the fight.

Jiraiya has a genjutsu that takes out mutiple opponents, so Kisame wouldn't have made any difference:

:facepalm....................I see noob people.

Sorry but, doesn't matter how much chakra you have, doesn't = SHIT RUN FOR IT!!!Noooooooooo!!!OMG WE GONNA DIE!!.

Ahem, yeah.

:shifty

Good point, Itachi judged Jiraiya based on his chakra just like Pein. What I don't get is that Itachi and Kisame came to the conclusion that they would both lose against Jiraiya. Based on Itachi's performance, he and Jiraiya are almost equals. Kisame isn't a pushover, he managed to defeat the four tails. It's very difficult to imagine these two losing to Jiraiya.

Oh and you should take out the part about Susuanoo. There isn't supposed to be any discussion about the latest chapter until Monday.

they feared the chakra and streghtn of a regular jiraya.
and they didnt even know about hermit mode

there fighting styles dont reallly macth and i hardly believe that they have the teamwork and cordination of the pein bodies. and on top of that pein knew of jirayas abilites. and the 3 pein bodies still lost.

if itachi listened to kisame and decided to fight, i think J man would have raped them

..Nice theory. Although, when he stated dangerous chakra, it means he's a dangerous man, don't forget, Jiraiya is a Sannin! :hehee

So was Orochi and even he with Sasuke lost to Itachi in the latest chapter. Jiraiya must have really been holding back if Orochimaru kept beating him. I mean seriously, even when he was poisoned, he might have been able to use hermit mode and kicked the snakes ass. Hell, I think Jiraiya could have handedly taken on Tsunade, super strength or not. (She would be dead if J-man wanted her dead, hokage or not.)

Then again, look at it this way. When Jiraiya had Itachi and Kisame trapped, Kisame apparently couldn't do anything at the time to escape. It took Itachi, using one of his strongest techniques, to give them an opening. For all Kisame is worth, he was pretty useless during that time.

Itachi Retreated From Jiraiya Because... Jiraiya is stronger than the both of them. Simple as that.

Jiraiyas frog genjutsu is the strongest most effective jutsu we have see so far and it can be used against multiple oppenents at the same time.

Itachi ran because Kishimoto wanted to hype up the Sannin arc which happened afterwards. It had nothing to do with the plot (although some could argue that Itachi didn't want to capture the Kyubi at that time for Uchiha reasons). It is my firm belief that Itachi would utterly destroy Jiraiya in one or two moves. Jiraiya's summon only worked to Itachi's advantage, since Jiraiya himself would not be able to escape. And, what the fuck is Jiraiya going to do when a ocean sweeps on him traveling 500km/h? He can't do anything, he would die.

Jiraiya didn't run out of chakra during the Pein fight because he hardly even used any jutsu. The Frog summons were doing all the work, and Jiriaya did a rasengan and 3 summons. Without summons, Jiraiya would have died in the first chapter. Itachi has more than double the chakra Kakashi has (Kakashi did only 2 Mangekyou techniques and passed out, Itachi used Amaterasu/Tsukiyomi and countless other jutsu and he still has the chakra to perform the godliest of his Mangekyou abilities).

And even if Itachi had a low chakra amount, Kisame could always transfer his own chakra to Itachi. Kisame is Bijuu level, thus has Bijuu level chakra. There is no logical "power related" explination for Itachi running away, Kishimoto did it simply to hype up Jiraiya.

Kisame alone will lose to one of Jiraiya's attacks remember if it wasn't for Itachi. That "Toad Mouth" jutsu was going to kill him and it didn,t take that much from Jiraiya but it took a lot from Itachi to escape, he had to use amaterasu.
JIRAIYA is JUST GREAT!

That's a good point, but I'm not quite sure Kishi had even thought of the chakra seeing shit at that point of the manga :p...

I just think Itachi ran because he heard alot about Jiraiya, and KNEW he and Kisame couldn't defeat him. He was in anbu so he most likely had access info about Jiraiya. Jiraiya was on more S class missions than any shinobi in Konoha, I don't blame him for running away.

People always try to deny it, but that scene is testement to how fucking dangerous Jiraiya realy was. People's opinions on how powerfull Pein is, are scewed now because Itachi fans like to make shit up. Jiraiya is on a different level than Itachi, or Kishi would have adresssed that scene before Jiraiya died.

this ought to be obvious by now, but apparently there's still some confusion. The only reason Itachi didn't want to fight is because he knew he'd have to use more MS jutsu to win. he has never used an MS jutsu unless it was absolutely necessary or to push Sasuke along the path to MS. He used Amaterasu when he and Kisame were about to be eaten. When he fought Kakashi he determined he wasn't an adequate teacher for Sasuke and used Tsukuyomi to show Sasuke that Kakashi wasn't near his level.

It appears that Itachi's eyes had exactly enough left in the tank to fight Sasuke. if he'd used even 1 more MS jutsu before then, he would've had to use Susanoo much earlier, thus shortening the fight.

well seeing that itachi used his top tenchiqnues earlier, im guessing he was already tired and he couldnt fight jiraiya:)

Can't resist

Maybe you have a point. But Itachi seems to repect Jiraiya more than Orochimaru. Because orochimaru doesn't intimidate Itachi in the slighest sense

I bolded this because it makes me laugh.

Have we ever seen a fight when Itachi DIDN'T use MS?
I remember him using tsukuyomi practically every fight.

He ran because it wasn't the ideal time to take Naruto

He ran because it wasn't the ideal time to lose his life.

As far as the rest of the arguments...it has just been overdone. All we know is Kisame and Itachi stated that Jiraiya would be a troublesome opponent and that it took Itachi's strongest attack to escape a basic jutsu of Jiraiya's. Based off of solely what he have seen b/t them 2 and there encounter Jiraiya wins... i don't care if you like Itachi and i don't care if you like Jiraiya...that is all we have to go on, and it was clear Jiraiya was the victor in that instance.

I believe someone said the frog stomach worked to Itachi's advantage... i highly doubt that one of Jiraiya's summons could in any way work against him...but since we are speculating about it.... the frog stomach could move and enclose things...so who is to say that it wouldn't have acted like Gaara's sand and made a kind of auto defense for Jiraiya?

If you honestly put them face up to fight there, and they just started going at it, immediately there is...
Itachi
- regular genjutsu
- taijutsu
- katon's
Jiraiya
- frog stomach
- katon's
- hair defense or offense
- rasengan
- Hell swamp

We can assume so many things..but if they just started fighting right there, Jiraiya would have a clear advantage...Itachi has to close his eyes before a Mangkekyou attack, and as soon as he does there would be so many things Jiraiya can hit him with... this argument has happened to many times and is getting played out....from purely what the manga has stated between the 2... Jiraiya wins
