Itachi has become weaker...

The Teacher of Legends
If you think about it, Itachi has become weaker ever since the time skip happened if you factor in the fact that he is going blind, that is.

Itachi pre-time skip had all three MS techniques, as stated in the manga that susanoo was born along with Tsukiyomi and Ameretsu.

So far in the itachi vs.sasuke fight, Itachi used:

Genjutsu = nothing new, its his specialty
Tsukiyomi = seen in pre-time skip and then failed against sasuke
Ameretsu = used in pre-time skip and then seen it in action and fail
Susanoo = itachi had it pre-time skip and is using it now

I would have thought that itachi's strenght would increase over the time skip but i havent seen anything new, i thought susanoo was something he gained during the time skip but he said he had it pre-time skip.

I know the fight isnt over yet and itachi still could do something new, but do you still think that kishi is purposely making Itachi weaker by not having him do anything else besides MS?

Since itachi has been severely hyped over the years, i expected something more than MS. Dont get me wrong, Susanoo is awesome in its own right and how it pawned oro in a few panels.

Because of everything Itachi has shown so far in the fight happened to be in his arsenal pre-time skip, do you agree that itachi has gotten weaker?

Yeh FreshMint is right, just like when Itachi busts out the MS when he fights Kakashi for the first time... he hits Kakashi with some genjutsu (tsukoyomi maybe? I'd have to check again) and then kinda collapses a bit, and Kisame has to remind him to stop using it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Kisame say something along the lines of "Be careful with those eyes, you still dont know how to use them fully..."?? Or something along those lines.

The more Itachi uses his MS, the weaker he becomes basically/

i know, but why is he abusing MS to the point of going blind, look at kakashi, he didnt even use MS against kukazu, he saves it as a last resort because he knows of the side effects of going blind.

it seems that itachi cant win w/o using MS.

Itachi uses Tsukuyomi on Kakashi back in part 1. After this Kisame says "But Itachi, don't use those eyes too much, they're dangerous for you too."

Itachi didn't got weaker, everyone else improved tenfolds.

Amaterasu didnt fail at all, he just prevent that his amaterasu didnt burn Sasuke completely which could cause the lost of his dream the EMS.

Do you really think he would burn Sasuke completely after he waited so long? not to mention he already running out of time for his eyes.

I think you will find that Sasuke avoided amaterasu.

I agree with FreshMint. : T

While Itachi could use Susano with his MS, I doubt Susano had the mystical sword.

It's possible Itachi found the sword during the timeskip and that Susano would not have been able to defeat Orochimaru without it.

So, who knows... blech

Only his eyes have become weaker from using the MS. He's still the same shinobi at heart. Also Kishi limited him to what he could use in this fight, and seeing as how Uchiha's are mostly know for sharingan, that's what he focused on.

i know, but why is he abusing MS to the point of going blind.

thats kishi's way of gettin rid of Itachi..think bout it..he made Itachi overuse the MS so he is almost completely blind when fightin Sasuke so that sasuke can win..

basically PNJ..i mean..Itachi spammed MS even tho he knew it would have a negative effect on him..?..BULLSHIT!!..no one would do such dumb thing..maybe naruto..NOT Itachi..!

Kishi knows that Itachi is one of the strongest and most hyped characters in this manga and that without bullshit like the 'blindness' thing he would never be able to even make sasuke last against Itachi for more then one chapter even if sasuke trained for 5 years straight..check the way Itachi was presented to us:
Spoiler:
him and madara raped the uchiha clan..Defeated OROCHIMARU at age 11/12..raped Kakashi and co without much effort..Orochimaru stated that Itachi was stronger then him..defeated Deidara with a move or so..
so..i guess Kishi sat down and tought to himself..'Shit!! i made a mistake!!..I should'nt have made Itachi so strong!! how in the hell am i going to explain Sasuke even standin a chance against this monster??!??!..wait..wait..I Know!!..what if i give him a dose of PNJ so i can handicap him??..YEAHHH!!..am gonna portray that Itachi been spammin MS even tho He knows its bad for him so he will be almost completely blind when facing sasuke!' :zaru

Spoiler:
Itachi will probably die because he cant see sasuke OR Kishi will come up with some bullshit like 'the power of his eyes sucked him in to darknesss and robbed him of his life'..

Dude You already know how i feel about the whole Sasuke versus Itachi fight(see "kishi is f#%king up" thread)

Its pissing me off to see the best shinobi,(aside from yondaime, neji, sasuke, lee, and Gai)
being utterly screwed over by the same man who has hyped this fight since this series' inception. It makes me want to punch a fricking wall.

Kishiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(MB shakes fist in the air)

Itachi has become weak because his eyevision decreased alot...ALOT. As of now, he is probably blind as there is no eyecolor or Sharingan color anymore. Its an interesting situation we are in right now.

<_< firstly i dont see how you can even say he's become weaker since he has never used his full power until now so theres nothing to compare it to anywayz ;_; blindness doesnt has no effect on his chakra or techniques =3 sure it could effect his battle tactics but he's pulling through as you can see dureing the manga chapters....

you've got it backwards, he can't win because he uses MS. I think that might be an example for Sasuke to stop taking short cuts to power and try it Naruto's way. Otherwise he'll become just like any other member of his cursed clan, powering up his eyes the same way they've always done and nothing will change.

Itachi is using the thing that makes him go Blind precisely because he is going Blind. He's taking a Gamble, in order to end this fight quickly.

Think about it- what if they had worked? What if Tsuyukomi managed to break Sasuke's mind like it did so many times before? What if Sasuke had'nt managed to pul out that Jutsu that allowed him to escape Amateratsu sans one wing? What if Sasuke did'nt have kirin?

Itachi is going Blind, and he is facing an opponent who is hell-bent on killing him, and has gained the means to do it. If those Jutsu worked, Sasuke would have been finished because under normal circumstances those are one-hit win Jutsu.

Itachi has gotten weaker over the Timeskip, but that's more because of his crippling eyesight than anything else. Yes, he's Arrogant, and yes, he probably could have improved even more than he did (or did'nt) over the skip with training, but losing your eyesight would have crippled him regardless. And the Mangekou would have taken it from him even if never used it once in his life- using it just seems to speed up the process (otherwise, he would have used them as little as possible in preperation for this fight).

And whose to say that he has'nt gotten stronger? He may well have increases his speed and physical abilities (possible, though I think unlikely), or he may have learnt or copied more Jutsu (a lot more likely, in my opinion)- Susanoo is "the last Jutsu in his Arsenal", but that probably means he only uses it as a last resort not that he does'nt have more Jutsu to fall back on (just that the ones he had would'nt be enough to win the fight).
For example, as Kisame's partner for X number of years, he probably has copied a full range of suitons; he just has'nt used them.

But in this fight, his rationale was simple- He wanted to win as fast as possible.

he got weaker, going blind is a weakness, by everyone else improving he got weaker, maybe he already reached his peak of power.

if your not getting stronger, your getting weaker is my point

of course this is itachi first real fight, however, we have seen him in short skirmishes and him coming out on top against oro and kakashi for example.

point is everything we are seeing from itachi is from pre-timeskip, even susanoo was an ability itachi had back then.

im not concerned with who's going to win this fight, this thread is about itachi's lack of improvement in 2 1/2 years.

nah.. I think people just overrated him. People used to claim he'd pawn yondaime in one or two moves. Itachi comes in the top 5 list of strongest shinobi, but he's not at yondy level imo.

i don't really think kishimoto intended to make us feel that Itachi has become weak. He could see quite clearly before his tsukiyomi failed, and from his performance in part 2 it didn't seem his reflexes were any slower than before.

Itachi was however, nerfed by Kishimoto, in this fight. Kishimoto could have shown him to be stronger if he had used his exploding bunshins, and some suiton jutsu's (imo this doesn't mean kishi wanted us to know that this ain't the best Itachi is capable of, and he's lost/will loose because of him loosing his powers over TS).

The sharingan is in Itachi's blood. Taking away his sharigan is like taking away oro's snake abilities, Neji's byakuugan, Gai's taijutsu talent, Yamato's wood affinity + abilities, + Kisame's monstrous chakra and strength.

Bad Examples are bad examples. Gai, Lee and Neji all trained their abilities and honed their skills.

Hinata was born with a Byakugan and the ability to use Jyuuken, she still has sucky taijutsu though.

It seems as soon as Itachi mastered the Sharingan and later the Mangekyou Sharingan, he stopped with his training.

i agree with almost everything your saying and i understand what itachi is trying to do by using MS to finish the fight quickly, but you would think, since itachi has been hyped so much over the years that he would have something strong enough besides MS to use against sasuke that could have worked. look at sasuke, he developed chidori nagashi, chidori sword (w/spikes), and even kirin.

Im not saying itachi has no other jutsu, but itachi hasnt shown anything new in this fight besides Susanoo which is an MS technique, which is kind of dissapointing.
