Is Itachi's entire plan flawed?

So yes, spoiler if you aren't up to date on the Japanese manga.

Itachi's grand plan is to steal Sasuke's sharingan. We know this is possible as we have seen that Kakashi was gifted the sharingan of his dying friend Obito. Going well so far, but consider that Sasuke only has the basic sharingan, upon implanting these into himself Itachi would lose all of the abilities gained from having the mangekyo sharingan. He'd no longer have Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu or Susanoo; it was mentioned that Madara's transplant took place after both he and his brother had unlocked the full potential of the sharingan and as such no similar loss of power happened there.

Does Itachi plan to somehow kill his already deceased best friend all over again in order to regain the mangekyo sharingan?

I believe for the most part the current belief is that once stolen Itachi will go kill Naruto (he was meeting him before to check if he was Sasuke's friend) and then MS will activate And he will have the 9-Tails to use against Madara and the EMS. Pretty good plan might I say :quite

Theres so many threads like this, instead of making a new thread you should have did a search and posted your opinion in an already current thread that discusses the same thing.

The basic requirement of the Permenent Mangekyou Sharingan is your brother's eyes. It never said anything about your brother having the MS. The only problem with going this route is that the simple transplant didn't equate to Madara's power as was indicated by Itachi when he said the formula failed for other Uchiha for decades. Since Sasuke did not come before him with the Mangekyou Sharingan, Itachi had no choice but to take a gamble with his basic Sharingan, and hope for the best...

Itachi never seemed to be a gambling man to me... if he was why not take on Jiraiya and capture Sasuke 3.something years ago when he could have. I tell people Itachi is a chess player he had his plan made out... if he planned on using Sasuke's basic sharingan eyes he could have taken him the night he killed his parents. He could have made a tsukiyomi that showed Itachi saving Sasuke from a killer and escape Konoha together train him to activate sharingan and pluck those babies out.

Why not?

Because taking the eyes is not his intention. What is his true intention? I don't know but it involves hatred... buckets full. So no OP his plan is not flawed we just don't know his real plan but we do know he doesn't really want Sasuke's Non-MS eyes because if he did he could have had already.

He was following Akatsuki's orders at the time. Remember when he said he had no interest in Sasuke after snapping his wrist in the hallway? I'm sure he went out of his way to instill hatred in Sasuke because it was either a plan he never wanted Madara to find out for fear of getting killed for his betrayal, or the change in plans for collecting the Bijuu from the least to greatest (1-9 Tails) came into affect just after the Leaf confrontation to which Itachi didn't have to worry about capturing Naruto now that the assignment was given to the leader...
