If You're going to die, keep it to yourself!

A Rant:

This is the worst part of Kishi's writing. I can't stand it when he telegraphs a characters death, it drives me nuts. There's never any suspense, it's ALWAYS 3 chapters of "Well Remember the Past" "Well look to the future" "If I happen to get killed tomorrow, hint hint, wink, wink" GAWD! That's so stupid. Do you know how impactful it would have been if Jiraya sets off but up and get's eaten right out of the gate? But no he's got to sit around the pick his nose and be like "if only I had some more time, I might have won you over Tsunade. I would have loved to do research on you, but something's telling me that I might not live very long in the future, MAYBE :awesome. . . . . :facepalm

And then when we thought Chouji was going to die, but he didn't. It irritates me because it establishes a fact that in Naruto, good guys that are main/side are not allowed to die without tons of ass hat back story and heart warming bullshit. Hell even Orochimaru had to have a chapter about his past as a kid before he let him go. Deidara, Asuma, Zomg.

This is just a Bad thread in my opinion and to your rant...
SO WAT!??!!?
It builds up the drama and lets u truely apretiate the character or savor the the pleasure of seeing some1 u hate die.
If u want all that shit wait till the anime catches up to the manga, but this is manga AKA u read, ur not gonna get that much of a suprise from reading, u can just skip pages.

Edit: fixed :notrust

But seriously don't. OP brought up a point of discussion, address it without putting insults or jabs at the poster.

You make a good point, it would help if Kishi didn't put in a shitload of foreshadowing, it would make it more interesting if they're deaths were a surprise. However, the flashbacks and such make the story more interesting, it allows us to learn more about the charactor before they go. In J-man's case, it was a good death, it would have been better if it wasn't so heavily foreshadowed, cuz the entire time i was thinking: "He's going to die soon, how will it happen?"

I agree with you in the fact that if we look at his particular "last run" independently that it is pretty well done. The problem is that it occurs far too often. It's almost a theme in of itself that makes me say "Here we go, so and so's about to die." There needs to be a mixed bag so that the readers (like us :awesome) aren't always hit over the head with what could/should be subtle at times.

Yeah, I agree...especially with Jiraiya's death, there wasn't really a point to constantly bringing up his impending death...that could've turned out to be a real shocker.

The problem with this is a ton of people still don't believe the character will die even with forshadowing. Even I wasn't 100% about Jiraiya until Pein did ressurect no jutsu.
