First of all , i think that each pein are on akatsuki level
only an akatsuki level at least can competed a little with base jiraiya summon
- can stopped a little a punch of hermit jiraiya
- can cut the arm of hemit jiraiya ( even if jiraiya took down his guard)
-can absorb the ultimate rasengan never made

juunin can't do that .

According to itachi " we can't defeat him or at least a draw , even with more men the result would be the same .." when he was talking about jiraiya

we have a proof that against pein , jiraiya can beat severals akatsuki members
that why he killed 3 of them , he even killed one wihout his arms

and also even pein ( 6 bodies) said that he would have been defeat by jiraiya

it's logic

pein = or > 6 akatsuki level
jiraiya = or > 6 akatsuki level ( like pein and itachi said )


i think that jiraiya was really the strongest ninja in naruto universe
kishimoto even restricted his power
-we will never know what is the power of ultimate rasengan
-jiraiya lost an arm just because he took down his guard after the genjutsu..
he was just too strong to live in the manga
that why he was reserved for his old pupil pein the strongest akatsuki level

and finally , we all know that in lots of shonen manga the master of the hero is always the strongest ( kenshin for example)

reps I agree with your observation. Our Departed Toad Hermis will always be top teir because of his battle with Pein.
 
Pretty much agree with you!! he was one almighty powerful ero-sennin!! However I am disapointed in his teachings to naruto over those 2.5 years!!! many may disagree but.......

Tsunade did mention to Jiraiya that she didn't think it was a good idea to pack Naruto full of jutsus, so hopefully Naruto just hasn't felt the need to lay out his hand yet. Naruto really hasn't been in any real fights yet either.
 
Most of these points are very good. But i wouldn't say all of Peins bodies were equal to akutski members. Most only had 1 specialty, they were still probably jounin level. After the Pein fight i put Jiraiya around the top 3 in power

Hey! I am a big actual character naruto fan!
and I hope you are right about him holding back!(different summons would be ace!) however he now has his wind power resangen! but I hope he learns some different techniques that don't involve the resangen!!
I know this ramble is going off course compared to the thread......sorry!

it's true , they have their own speciality but , don't forget that they have also their black weapons too

and deidara is a specialist of explosion
itachi on genjutsu
sasori on poison ...

so there are no difference between 1 akatsuki and 1 pein who have also his speciality and his black weapon

and by the way ,
itachi , sasori , kisame ,hidan , kakuzu , deidara .. if they work together they won't be more dangerous than all pein body
do you know why ? because all pein bodies have their own ability ( + back weapon) and especially can have all views in the same time.

it's much more efficient and dangerous , because of their view and of their knowledge each other.:)

we never seen one pein body talking to an other to fix a strategy
 
i agree completely.

the one out come from this, is that i think people are serously underestimating pein. i don't think most people believe that each one of peins bodies is at akatsuki level like i do.

the other question that this brings up is what the F@#$ happened to oro? is just a cocky bastard? because he seems to have lost his badassness as he started switching bodies.
 
jiraya would have won if pein had summoned all the bodies. his song no matter the number would have been effective in trapping them. and from than on size doesnt matter.
 
This would be a plausible theory, except for the fact that Itachi would have the extensive knowledge required to know of Jiraiya possessing such power.

The main bit of this thread is based on the genjutsu that Jiraiya used against Pein, the Kaneshibari which was able to defeat the first three bodies of the Rikudō (outside of regeneration). However, this genjutsu was one that could be used only while in the Sennin Mōdo, and casted by Ma and Pa nonetheless. This form is something that has been remarked as "unknown".

Yet on the basis of Jiraiya's potential and actual power I have no quarrels.

And they didn't die, they just ran away because it wasn't the right time to get Naruto. When they were running and seeing Jiraiya's powers Kisame said he wanted to go back until Itachi explained that it wasn't the right time.

no , jiraiya had to protect naruto against 2 akatsuki ,
that why it's very hard
it's much harder to protect someone from akatsuki member than to killed akatsuki member

for example , kakashi could beat zabuza faster if he would have not protect sasuke , naruto , sakura and the old guy

we all know that kisame talk too much like always and itachi lectured him
he would have be killed if itachi would have not used his amateratsu

the important thing is that itachi said after " i was forced to used the amateratsu" (one of his strongest jutsu)

don't forget that when the jutsu frog was out , kisame said "at this rate we.." (are dead)

if itachi was forced to use amateratsu that mean without they would be dead

and after kisame said " we couldn't .. ? he was talking about naruto not killing jiraiya

Yeah, totally. I hope the next time we see Naruto, he uses some pages out of Jiraiya's book.

We've seen Sakura using Tsunade's strength and taijutsu, we've seen Sasuke using Orochimaru's snakes and kawarimi, it's about time we see Naruto using some of the Ninja King's stuff.

well, I've argued something like that with Itachi vs. Sasuke
if it wasn't for orochimaru's snake kawarimi sasuke would have died in the amaterasu.
we can't know what would have happened if kisame and Itachi fought jiraiya at their fullest.
Itachi could have used tsukiyomi,amaterasu and susano'o and kisame could have...................well I don't know what he would have done since we haven't seen him fight.
also if Itachi used susano'o he would have been able to reflect jiraiya's attacks,then he could have used amaterasu to burn jiraiya's ass.
 
Why is it that anytime Jiraiya is praised at being strong itachi fans automatcially come to say they think itachi can beat him. The only reason Jiraiya even lost to Pain is because Pain knew EVERYTHING about Jiraiya and Jiraiya knew NOTHING about Pain.


I still don't see how people can compare the two, but whatever. Jiraiya has never admitted inferiority to anyone but Itachi, Kisame, and Pain admitted they would lose to Jiraiya. The exception is pain said he wouldn't be able to defeat Jiraiya IF he knew his secret.
 
Basically all the strong guys in the manga die! (Minato, Jiraiya, Itachi, 1st, 2nd, 3rd)

Except for Madara, of course.
 
I definitely think Jiraiya is one of the strongest characters. Pein, who has the Rinnegan (which is said to be the strongest of all doujutsu), admitted he would have lost had Jiraiya known about his secret.

Although I'm sure there are characters who could also defeat him (like Orochimaru, what with the whole snake-toad-slug mythology). With both Itachi and Jiraiya going all out though, that would have been an interesting battle. :)

Yes , and i think that if jiraiya would have his arms , he would be abble to find the secret and finish him

it's just that he find the secret at the very last time when he was almost dead , without arm.
he even came back from the dead to say the secret

during all the fight , jiraiya was trying to know who is pein ? it was his mission


kishimoto was forced to take down jiraiya's guard to killed this caractere..

so we still don't know what is jiraiya full power ...
 
:(...i do like jiraiya for some moments and I agree with you that jiraiya hasn't show his full power yet, but sorry, i dont think he's the "strongest" character in this manga. There's alot of strong characters and since they did not fight, we really can't certain about who is stronger than who. We dunno what would happen if Itachi and Kisame really starts a fight with jiraiya. I just dun think he is the strongest. But then again it's just my opinion. :wink
 
Well, fist we don't know pain's secret yet.
so maybe his secret is that he's controling the bodies from afar and if jiraiya knew it he would have found a way to destroy the BODIES.
So how do you know he could have defeated the true pain if there's one?
also we haven't seen kisame fighting at his fullest, and if only 30% of his chakra=naruto kyuubi vs. neji, he surely is strong.
also I'M NOT AN ITACHI FAN I'M A PEIN FAN.
what I'm saying is that jiraiya COULD have lost if Itachi used all the MS jutsus , but since we haven't seen that fight we can't know for sure.
and I think jiraiya is really strong but I just don't think he's the strongest.
 
he cant be as good as 6 akatsuki members, orochimaru is almost as strong as jiraiya and itachi is stronger than orochimaru then jiraiya is as strong as 2 akatsuki members, max...

You are forgetting that Itachi is probably the top 3 strongest in Akatsuki. He can probably take on 2-3 Akatasuki himself if he spams Mangekyou Sharingan, so Jiraiya is probably only 2-3 Itachi level strength. Orochimaru dumbfounds me. I don't understand why he just doesnt invent a jutsu to counter Sharingan.
 
*sigh* Jiraiya used everything he had against pein, pein barely used any. So even if jiraiya knew how could he have beaten pein?
Itachi has a hax called susanno, jiraiya would be killed by it.
Jiraiya could only take out 1 pein at the cost of his life.
The only technique seen useful from jiraiya was the song genjutsu from his frogs.
So how could jiraiya beat them
