I Think I Got It Figured Out

I read 393 and noticed a few things. It could be spoilers so don't read if you dun like those. ; x

1. Think back to when Anko confronts Orochimaru during the chuunin exam. Anko thinks she has Orochimaru pinned to a tree and she's about to do her self destruct jutsu when she realizes she had been fighting a clone.

Now, fast forward a bit... When Orochimaru leaves Sasuke's body the first thing he does is a hydra jutsu to test Susano's abilities. It seems that Orochimaru appears out of the mouth of one of the hydras... Itachi says: "So you finally show yourself." Orochimaru is stabbed by the mystical sword(can't remember it's name)..

Now for the key part.

After Orochimaru is stabbed, and his body starts to....... melt. Doesn't it resemble the scene where his Anko has his clone pinned to a tree and his clone begins to...... melt?

Is it possible: Orochimaru still lives!!?

2. In 393, there are at least 2 panels of a snake with eye markings similar to Orochimaru's human form crawling around on the ground. Could it be Orochimaru still lives? The Orochimaru Susano stabbed = clone?

3. There's a panel where Itachi clutches at his chest:

It makes me think Itachi's heart suffered damage from the strain of the battle or from using Susano. Afterwards blood starts to pour out of his mouth and later, his eyes. Itachi also complains about his eyes:

It makes me think Itachi goes blind.

Itachi = blind & dead?
 
The action of "melting" only occurred in the anime. As for the manga, the one that was pinned to the tree was stated to be a . Though if Orochimaru had succeeded in evading Susano'o it would have been wise to strike immediately afterwards. That is, without knowledge of the invulnerability that Susano'o gives.

I'm not certain the best course of action for him would have been to strike immediately. And, it wouldn't surprise me if he sent a clone of himself to see what types of abilities Susano had since he did sent hydras to attack first rather than jumping in blindly...

It does seem somewhat unlike him to die in 5 seconds flat.

And, that snake keeps taking up precious panel space.

I would like to believe it's wholly coincidence. That this will be a clean fight to the bitter end.

But, I'm not so certain.

Oh, I believe he is still alive - possibly have escaped from this match. Though my statement was that it would have been the best course of action without knowledge of the Susano'o. We have no reason to believe that Orochimaru possesses such knowledge, and thus would most likely strike soon there after of escaping.
 
Of course Orochimaru got away. That's why the manga had 2 frame devoted to showing a small snake slithering away.
 
hum...no...


i think that, if oro escaped, he is the snake...thought the snake got out of sasuke's shoulder, perhaps its just the white snake...but let's wait to see
 
Ok... Alternative Theory: When most people are put in a genjutsu they wind up unconscious. With Orochimaru, since his body is composed of snakes or 1 big snake I don't think anyone has bothered to see what he looks like naked, yet... Maybe, when he's put in a genjutsu his body just collapses aimlessly into something resembling a mass of jello with a few snakes here and there.

So, the small snake is a piece of Orochimaru's body that is just a normal snake now that Orochimaru's consciousness is stuck in genjutsulalaland.
 
Orochimaru did not melt. The Sword of Tetsuka absorbed his soul.
