I predicted it all and I hate it

Yuna

The Legendary Anti-Sakuratard
I am not psychic (that I know of) but I've watched too much TV/read to many mangas/seen too many movies to be easily surprised by fiction.

When I saw Itachi reach out to Sasuke, I immediately knew he was finally going to flick his forehead. But it has been obvious to me for a while now that Itachi would drop dead (or at least seemingly unconscious) once he'd finally beaten Sasuke and it was obvious it was going to happen in this chapter.

And I knew from the beginning that Kishimoto wouldn't get Sasuke beat Itachi or at least not kill him. One side would win and then the battle would end without Sasuke actually winning for real.

While some might think it's epic since it sets up for more mystery (what did Itachi tell Sasuke and why is Sasuke so much in shock from it (he was in shock even before Itachi slumped down)?), I didn't really like it. Just more unanswered questions to add to the pile and quite anti-climactic, especially for such an epic and foreshadowed battle.

A huge battle that ends because one side spontaneously dies? Are we to believe Susanoo did that (based on what Zetsu said)? I doubt the Mangekyou's 3rd Jutsu randomly kills its wielder. We know you couldn't allow Sasuke to become strong enough to defeat Itachi but this was pretty bad, Kishimoto!

I mean, Sasuke didn't even actually beat Itachi! An empty victory.

Itachi Mangekyou Sharingan took a deadly amount of chakra away from Itachi, then he activated the Susanoo technique which also eats up alot of chakra. Itachi was on the bounds of death because his chakra account was really running low.

Why poke Sasuke's forehead, though?

Why go through all that trouble. Kill off an entire clan. Do all that just to piss off Sasuke, defeat him, and poke his forehead with 1 finger?

I think I'm missing something...

This is my favorite part of this fight if he's truly down for the count. He couldn't really beat itachi and he finds out madara uchiha is the one who helped him slaughter the clan. How's he going to beat madara all by himself without the curse seal if he couldn't beat itachi with it?

I'm not sure if he poked him in the forehead on purpose or whatever it is that happened to him hit him right as he was going for the eye. That, together with his near blindness, would explain the forehead poke.

Some call it creating mystery, I call it causing confusion. Are we to believe Itachi exhausted himself and collapsed or died? A genius shinobi could not accurately tell his own strength but was quick to tell his opponent that he has no chakra left. Lastly, why did Kishi write Itachi saying, "The fight starts now"? Next chapter the fight ends because he pretty much killed himself.

I did not hate theses chapters. But I am left questioning a lot of what happened in them.

I too predicted it, it wasn't that hard to see (Kishi foreshadowed it with Itachi started to bleed from the mouth and all.)

I think this is the best way for it to go, aside from Itachi winning, because the only other way would be Sasuke pulling out some haxx jutsu to beat Itachi.

You are the prophet :argh

Seriously, both Sasuke and Itachi won by some way, which i like, and flicking the forehead was nostalgic win.

We all are missing something. You'll find out later on in the manga once Kishi reveals it.

I think Kishi wanted Sasuke to win, Sasuke is a supporting character so he can't die, but if he made Sasuke win honestly (ie without Itachi fainting) as Itachi is an epic ninja people will be shouting Gary Stu, God Mod and Sasuke Ass Kisser at him. It would be unrealistic as Itachi is a boundless talented Ninja, and that didn't want to be lost, even zetsu said that he was surprised as Itachi wasn't using his full power. I don't think we ever have or ever will see him use his full power.

But we are all fed up about Sasuke moaning about avenging his family, killing a certain person and Kishi wants to move the story on, because this avenger thing was just holding everyone back.

Im thinking because he knew things were going to get bad quickly. He needed Konoha to gain up its strength as fast as he dcould and the only way to do that was to make Sasuke hate him and do whatever he could to gain power.

In turn, everyone around sasuke is effected (Naruto, Sakura) and are forced to get stronger themselves. I still dont think that he killed the clan, only his parents becuase Madara would have killed them anyway. I guess you could say its a little more honorable. Also if you dont know that poking sasuke in the forehead transeferred his powers, than stop reading the manga.

no you know what actually happend but kishi didnt explain. Itachi tried to grab sasuke's eyes but because of his invisible plotshield itachi's fingers bounced of against it, flicking sasuke's forehead and dying because of the touching his shield, apparently better than susano'o :awesome

Quite correct. I have high doubts that Susano-o is what killed him. Last I checked, an empty chakra tank =/= a heart attack, since both Sasuke and Itachi were out of chakra.

technically Sasuke did win. Sasuke wore Itachi down so much and Itachi used susano'o probaly knowing it would kill him. when he stumbled forward he meant to flick sasuke's forehead and transfer his Mangekyou to him.
