I believe Kushina is Kyuubi. So Naruto's mother is Kyuubi

Shadow
I have been thinking and I think I came up with and explanation about this.

Because Kishimoto likes to apply to japanese mythology in most of the manga. He could have done the same in this case.
Explanation
We all know that Madara had the power to summon the Kyuubi, but what if he did it after his fight with Shodai Hokage?
Shodai used all his power to defeat the Kyuubi or at least injure it.
Kyuubi having broken free from Madara's control, and impressed with Shodai's determination, goes into hiding, because she is unable to return to her realm. Kyuubi travels the world, learning more about Humanity using human forms to interact. (Mythology said that Kyuubi liked to transform in humans and play tricks)
Eventually she came to Konoha and used a false identity has Kushina Uzumaki, from the Country of Whirlpools, when Minato was still a gennin, and decided to stay, because she saw a lot of Shodai in him. She eventually grew up to become a beautiful woman, she also used jutsu similar to Naruto.(Kyuubi liked to play pranks on people by transforming in naked and beautiful women). She was also very tomboish, also because she was the Kyuubi.

Marrige and life in Konoha

Kyuubi might have fallen in love because of his selfless personality, or just wanted to spend more time with Minato. Minato never found out about Kushina being Kyuubi until later. They eventually married and were happy together(Mythology states that Kyuubi was a lovable, dependable and loyal wife). She eventually got pregnant with Naruto.

Tragidy

All this time Madara had been searching for Kushina to use her again to take his revenge on Konoha, not that Shodai and Nidaime were dead. He thought no one stood in their way, now.
Kushina might have some point incontered Madara, but he didn't recongnize her.
From here there are a few guesses that could have happned:
- Kushina might have told only Minato about her true identity and tought him sealing or other justu;
- Or she didn't tell him;
-etc.

Birthday

On the even of the birth Madara could have used Tsukuyomi to trick Kushina into thinking that the village found out about her being the Kyuubi and the tricked her into thinking the village killed her child.
Minato tried to resaon with her but she ran away. Madara followed and tricked her again.
Kushina in a fit of rage regressed back into Kyuubi and started to hunt Madara but then she found the village and attacked it.

Minato tried to calm Kushina down or to slow her enough to calm down. (It said that Kyuubi fought with Minato for a long time, he was a genius so he should have realized a lot sooner that any attacks were useless against Kyuubi, so this could be the reason why it took so long)
Loosing all hope for his wife, Minato did the last thing he could, he used his own son to seal the Kyuubi and sacrificed himself. He used Naruto because he was their son and he might be the only one who could control that power. (The Kyuubi's children, that she had while in human form, had special powers, and characteristics.).

I can't tell if Kyuubi knows about her son or if she lost all her memories.
Ehat do you think?

...Narutos mom has a reaaaaally deep voice...

That I wont have stand for any animal molestation on my manga! :C

How do you know it's actually a he? Maybe because of the transformation, its voice changed, because of her huge size.

And why do you say it's rediculous? it sounds very resonalbe. Kushina means 9 gifts(or something like that), Kyuubi= 9 tails. Kushina has red hair, Kyuubi is orange-red. Kushina uses justu that require a huge amount of chakra, Kyuubi has a huge amount of chakra.

It could even explain why Naruto has such a large amount of chakra, it may have been inherited and one of the reasons it could suppress the Kyuubi so well is because it is a form of Kyuubi's chakra in Naruto. Even the name Kushina is similar to Kyuubi.

It could all work and make sense except... why is the Kyuubi so angry and rude to Naruto in the mental world if it's his mom?

I already said that. It could be that the Kushina personna is either forgotten or unconcious. Or it could be that Naruto reminds her of Minato, the one the Kyuubi personality hates.

Kyuubi is Naruto's Mom you say ? Minato Raped Kyuubi ? Why do Kyuubi hate Naruto then and Minato ?

Naruto : *Rubs his belly* HAIZ MOM, COULDZ U BRUUSCZH MY HARIIRR

People are so creative! I give you credit for this, due to creativity. Unfortunately, Kyuubi has show no love for Naruto, at least not the way a mother would show love for her child.

:wha It's.... it's just such a preposterous theory and yet..... it WORKS!!! It... it make perfect sense..... why Kushina disappeared.... Argh! It... it all just fits too well.... I need to absorb this. (Starts rocking back and forth while sucking his thumb)

And the only reason the Kyuubi has a male voice is because of the anime. If there was no anime then we wouldn't know what the Kyuubi's voice sounds like.

It could be, but then how could she have given birth to Naruto that night, if the Kyuubi was released at the same time?

She gave birth right before the Kyuubi was summoned from her by Madara and she died.

Farfetched, but I like it.

Godamn, So you saying Minato was a animal fucker?

Didn't I mention that Minato had no idea Kushina was the Kyuubi?
Besides if you read about fox demons in the Japanese mythology, you will find that foxes transformed in beautiful women and men fell in love with them(the foxes, in disguise). The foxes had nothing against marrying them, and they proved to be loyal and dependable wives.

I like better the one that states that maybe Kushina was the former Jinchuuriki, but somehow the new baby had to take that role...

That also cought my eye, but you don't see any whisker marks on Kushina. Each tailed beast passes a certain treadmark on the jinchuuriki.

You have no idea how many fan fics have been made over this.

I find it weird when I read fanfics that show Kyuubi and Naruto as BFFs... Kyuubi doesn't seem to like Naruto at all... (not that I blame him... he is locked inside someone else's body.)

The fanfics I die laughing from are the ones where Kyuubi increases Naruto's sex drive! Always good for a chuckle. :hehee

Well, it could make some sense (despite Kyubi as been depicted so many times as being pure evil)

Kitsune (magical fox spirit in japanese mythology) could fit your description. From wikipedia:

There are two common classifications of kitsune. The myōbu are benevolent, celestial foxes associated with Inari; they are sometimes simply called Inari foxes. On the other hand, the wild nogitsune (野狐, nogitsune? literally, field foxes) tend to be mischievous or even malicious.[8] Local traditions add further types.[8] For example, a ninko is an invisible fox spirit that human beings can only perceive when it possesses them. Another tradition classifies kitsune into one of thirteen types defined by which supernatural abilities the kitsune possesses.[9][10]

Physically, kitsune are noted for having as many as nine tails.[11] Generally, a greater number of tails indicates an older and more powerful fox; in fact, some folktales say that a fox will only grow additional tails after it has lived 1,000 years.[12] One, five, seven, and nine tails are the most common numbers in folk stories.[13] When a kitsune gains its ninth tail, its fur becomes white or gold.[11] These kyūbi no kitsune (nine-tailed foxes) gain the abilities to see and hear anything happening anywhere in the world. Other tales attribute them infinite wisdom (omniscience).[14]

A kitsune may take on human form, an ability learned when it reaches a certain age ? usually 100 years, although some tales say 50.[12] As a common prerequisite for the transformation, the fox must place reeds, a broad leaf, or a skull over its head.[15] Common forms assumed by kitsune include beautiful women, young girls, or elderly men. These shapes are not limited by the fox's age or gender,[4] and a kitsune can duplicate the appearance of a specific person.[16] Foxes are particularly renowned for impersonating beautiful women. Common belief in medieval Japan was that any woman encountered alone, especially at dusk or night, could be a fox.[17]

In some stories, kitsune have difficulty hiding their tails when they take human form; looking for the tail, perhaps when the fox gets drunk or careless, is a common method of discerning the creature's true nature.[18] Variants on the theme have the kitsune retain other foxlike traits, such as a coating of fine hair, a fox-shaped shadow, or a reflection that shows its true form.[19] Kitsune-gao or fox-faced refers to human females who have a narrow face with close-set eyes, thin eyebrows, and high cheekbones. Traditionally, this facial structure is considered attractive, and some tales ascribe it to foxes in human form.[20] Kitsune have a fear and hatred of dogs even while in human form, and some become so rattled by the presence of dogs that they revert to the shape of a fox and flee. A particularly devout individual may be able to see through a fox's disguise automatically.[21]

This theory is whack!! I don't know whether to applaud it or to cringe in disgust :confuse
