Why in the hell did Itachi say that he wanted eyes right before this event?

I mean, of course... there is the possibility that he knew he was going to die, and so didn't see a point in taking sasuke's eye, but why would he say that he WOULD take sasuke's eye directly beforehand. Strange...

He was going to take the eyes. Then he knew he was seconds away from death and was like "throwback to childhood mode".
 
i doubt itachi intentionally tapped him on bhis forehead. if he did its because in death he had a change of heart
 
Itachi was going to take Sasuke's eyes,the time when he caught Sasuke in the Tsukuyomi Technique it seemed to him that he ripped Sasuke's left eyeball out,but it was a counter genjutsu by Sasuke's Sharingan. So Itachi has the full intent to take Sasuke's eyes, but somewhere at the last minute he decided to turn goodm and give his brother a little reminder of the past before he died.
