It means Uchihas don't like touching on each other
But on a serious note it means nothing, it's been obvious from the start that these two was fighting with Genjutsus,up until Kirin and Amateresu.

It essentially postponed Itachi's motives, i.e. whether he would've really plucked Sasuke's eyes out or not. Obviously Itachi coming into physical contact earlier would've quickened the whole process and consequently lessoned the drama/action/suspence/thrill. Now this chapter still leaves us hanging and hinting at Itachi's possible ulterior motives.

A majority of fights in part 2 involve very little physical contact. Just proof that Kishi has seemingly abandoned writing taijutsu into his fights.
