Death Note VS Fullmetal Alchemist

When I often hear people ask what is the best anime/manga they ever seen about 90% of the time its either Fullmetal or Death Note, so between the two which do you think is better in both Manga and Anime.

Two completely different genres and target audience, difficult to compare.

But I do like Death Note better.

you know, the only reason people say that is because they are the new stuff. the"90%" actually goes to Cowboy Bebop, which Would horribly stomp both Shows. FMA takes Manga, though.
 
FMA is very good but nowhere near the best manga/anime ever.

The first half of Death Note is definitely a god tier level of manga and some of the best storytelling of all time. The second half aka everything after L's death is pretty much shit though. The first half of DN is above Monster or 20th CB, the 2nd half is more like Naruto-tier rubbish.

Between the two I must say Death Note is better though simply due to how amazing the first half was.
 
I wouldn't put neither near the best anime. Though I'd rate Fullmetal Alchemist as one of the best mangas. Having not bothered to go past volume 8 or so (or coincidentally, episode 27 which is around the same part) of Death Note, I can't really comment on the series as a while.
 
FMA anime is so different from the manga that its really not even fair to call it the same series....

Manga: FMA by far. DN isn't anywhere close.
Anime: The DN anime is so over the top with its closeups, colorchanges, and other assorted dramatic flair that I'm going with FMA.
 
I think the over the top-ness of the DN anime made it pretty damn cool to me. Never has eating a bag of chips while writing names down on a notepad seemed so badass.

personally like deathnote, simply becasue its more of a mystery genre and because it makes you actually think sometimes. but on the other hand FMA has a hell of a lot of action...
 
Manga: FMA
Anime: Death Note, imo it's easily one of the best manga-to-anime adaptions.
 
Just because a thread can be phrased so as to have "vs" in the title, doesn't make it a battledome thread.
