Conspiracy Theory Challenge

Think of this as a mini tournament/contest.
Pick from one of the 4, popular conspiracy theories out today. And try to convince with your assessment Like wise its open for members who do not buy into the conspiracy theory, so you argue against it.

The most well thought argument or claim gets rep from me and those who pledge to pos rep. So it’s a massive rep boost for the winners. And yes, It’s a contest so I will ask if you can get a prize out of this. So one lucky winner will get a prize out of this.

America’s government knew of the planned terrorist attacks of 2001. But allowed them to go ahead, or even planned and execute them, to justify wars abroad.

Illuminati
A group of powerful people, secretly in control of the government, school system, religion, large corporations etc..

Apollo
America’s government faked the Apollo lunar programme to deal a propaganda blow to the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War

JFK
Rather assassination by a lone gunman, the death of the President John F. Kennedy involved mafia, Marilyn Monroe and a grassy knoll.

Once participants are settled, you will be granted one week to seek out, and pull together resources and come up with claims.

Spot for Judges are up for Grabs (3 only). Judges and me of course can not participate.

Openly discussing these kinds of issues, no matter how you see them, does not promote idiocy. It should be clear to anyone with half a brain when an argument holds no water (if only there were more people with half a brain...). Dismissing an argument because it challenges your perspective, and not because of the evidence or integrity of the argument, is the real idiocy.
I'd like to try the Apollo option, but with a twist. I'd like to claim that the mission was not faked- but that the video and pictures were.
I'm heading to bed, I will post my argument in full later.
 
The problem is that all of these fall apart under even a glancing competent rebuttal. You're effectively judging showmanship and flash. While you're at it, you may as well judge televangelists.

A better challenege would be to make up your own conspiracy theory. :p
 
Since it is extremely subjective how "great" arguments can be, it would be very pretentious to call this a competition since two equally true or valid arguments cannot be distinguished by superiority of the other. That said, make an argument about pretentiousness being good or why this isn't pretentious.

So I don't see the need for this thread to exist, since we can easily debate the validity of conspiracy theories already in this thread.

Maybe this thread should rather focus on a debate on why these conspiracy theories are somewhat convincing for people. Either way, please send me a PM with a reason for how this thread is any different from escamoh's. If it isn't then it is just a duplicate thread, and I'd have to delete that. Currently it fits the definition if you ask me.
 
also i'm pretty sure people who sincerely believe in any of these dont consider them as "conspiracy theories" and might not wish to be openly ridiculed in this sort of a format anyway
 
I am going to try, a single match. A trail match if you will. If it picks up, I will follow through with the entire tourney. Anyone willing to debate in favor of Apollo’s Conspiracy Theory?

Your dead right, this topic is made, to show case one’s ability to debate. Showmanship, flash, humor, etc.. all are tolls used, to convince, persuade, and have the judges acknowledge your views as the superior.

No I am a NF member, that enjoys hosting some form of competition. I am no longer in school.
 
if this ends up being successful, we can actually have contests for political and such topics too.:LOS
