Anything living that touches Cars gets absorbed into his body unless its using the ripple. Its how the Pillarmen feed on the vampires.

Alucard bites into Cars' neck and gets sucked in.
 
Doesn't Car's have a FTL reaction speed? Because I remember him reacting to a beam of ultraviolet light used by the Jojo earlier in Part II.
 
Because Pillarmen can also absorb other living creatures or go through their bodies, like Wham did with the Vampire Horses and Santana did so against Stroheim.

One of the Nazis aimed beam of light at his head and before it hit him, he blocked it with his hand. The beam had already been turned on when Cars saw it, but it didn't reach his face.

Same? Of course not. Similar? Absolutely.
 
Cars takes it. He absorbs both living and inanimate material. I hope there's no more confusion on this point.
