I can't help but agree on that, the lore of the Magpie had more to it than most of what we've read in previous shadowman runs, which didn't really add much substance to Jack as a character

frankly I've been having this feeling that Lemire pulls his punches when he writes Bloodshot, his other materials usually have better a standard of writing.
to be fair, might be the fact that he stretches himself thin, still tho, I find that strange. so far the arc has redeeming qualities that keeps me reeding, like the artwork and setting giving off a strong 'Mad Max' feel, Ray and Magic's relationship, old Ninjak being cool, but like you I sincerely hope we get a better resolution to the story in this arc

I did a quick read up on Deathmate, actually did not know they announced this. I do hope this is another joint effort with Image Comics like they did for that 90's run, seeing them collaborate with some of the best minds currently working over there would be a treat
yeah the quality has stagnated a bit, wanted to get a bit more oompf out of the Deadside arc in Ninjak tbf, although one thing I did find enjoyable was the worldbuilding that Kindt did for the Deadside, fleshed out the place quite a bit
no longer just a desolate wasteland, but a living, breathing thing with an ecosystem of its own, thought that was cool
