I had problems with Sai's development (not so much character). Either Kishi drops him or I want him in much more because I would like to enjoy his character.
I hated him at first too. But then seeing him in the library trying to brush up on his social skills. That was cool to see and made me like him as a character a little bit.

I actually liked him at first, but he sort of "fell" from my pov when he changed so suddenly. I did really like the library stint with him trying to be more sociable.
If he doesn't get at least one major fight, that would sort of be shitty considering he should be the equivalent of a main character now...
Kishimoto has really bad habit of forgetting characters not named Uchiha.
Well, about the Uchiha comment, it's not Monday yet so I won't spoil there just yet.
Sai's complete 180 in orochimaru's lair was unquestioably the sloppiest form of "character development" there ever was in the series of Naruto. That kind of character development really takes away from the character that goes through it, so Sai doesn't have that many fans simply for that. But to me, he's an annoying, cockblocking, penis-obsessed person of a character, and these are not good traits in a character.
But I truly believe that Sai's sudden disappearance was a very deliberate occurrence in the manga. While Kishimoto is more than capable of making mistakes, he's overall a better writer than people give him credit for. Sai's disappearance happening a handful of chapters before Jiraiya's sudden warning of the Root really makes one think.
Kishimoto would be totally forgiven is Sai was bullshitting Naruto and company, and was only pretending to do a 180 just so he could get close to them. If Sai would do that, it validate my claims of Kishimoto's writing abilities. If not, then I look like a bigger dumbass until my Kishimoto/magician thread becomes completely true.
This is not the last time you've heard of Sai. And there are others out there besides an Uchiha. Naruto. Minato. Jiraiya. The ones from the "opposite side of the fandom fence" have been totally getting tons of attention lately. And even if Jiraiya dies, which he likely will, then I also believe it likely that Minato continues to get some more of the attention that he's been getting. Naruto, obviously, as the main character will get his no matter what.
And then there's the issue of his mother. See, I'm not a n00b, and many others as well. People who saw the clues and picked up on them knew what the Fourth was to Naruto before it was actually stated and confirmed, finally, by Kishimoto. The ones that clearly didn't pick up on this little father/son fact are the ones who thought that that was the major, humongous plot twist of that chapter. Well, that couldn't be further from the case. The actual surprise parent was clearly the mother, Kushina. See, Minato always existed. His face was always around. There was always hints, clues, and foreshadowing with him. But because there was no mother, people kept coming up with these ridiculous reincarnation theories and whatnot. But I digress. Nothing was ever said about there being a mother.
But then her name and the fact that she exist dropped on us the same chapter Minato's own name and relationship to Naruto did. When Tsunade stated the thing about the mother, there was that pitch-black background all around her as she was saying, which means that she's important. Which also means that she was the plot twist. Before that, nobody had any idea who the mother was. We do now.
This attention that Naruto and those who are closely tied with him will only continue to grow as the plot moves forward and Naruto becomes more powerful. Jiraiya and Minato are already getting tons of attention. Kushina's name will come up again.
But they are getting the most hype. I can kinda forgive Sasuke's hype because he's supposed to be Naruto's ultimate rival. However, I think Madara is just over doing it.
That's what I'm saying. I understand character development and his eventually he would have to be bitchified, but it took one speech for a guy who never had any emotions, to change so completely? Naruto didn't even beat him up like he did with Neji. :/
I don't think Sai is faking. I'll forgive it somewhat as long as Kishimoto successfully builds on his character more. I don't hate where he's going, I hate how fast he went.
