Haven't posted a new entry in a week. This one will be about Global warming. No explanations, just excerpts and links.

So Gore made a speech on Global Warming/Climate Change yesterday.

Voinovich finds it ridiculous.
"We could put windmills from the Atlantic to the Pacific and, yes, it will increase the amount of carbon-free energy production, but the fact of the matter is, it's not going to get the job done," Voinovich said. "What we need to do is to look at all of the various sources of energy? We'd be much more realistic to realize that it's going to take all of these things in order for us to meet our energy demands."
Amen to that.

A long, very long piece at NextBigFuture, responding to Gore's speech.
I can't dare quote even an excerpt of it. You'll just have to read the whole thing. It'll be fun. Pretty pictures and some math.

David Evans
turns from proponent of Global Warming to skeptic?
But since 1999 new evidence has seriously weakened the case that carbon emissions are the main cause of global warming, and by 2007 the evidence was pretty conclusive that carbon played only a minor role and was not the main cause of the recent global warming. As Lord Keynes famously said, "When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"

An Obama ad said that John McCain proposes drilling, and that drilling would take ten years for any benefit to be seen. And that Obama would not only not resort to oil, but place us in the fast track... Well, that statement has been fact checked.
An Obama ad says he'll "fast-track alternatives" to imported oil. Actually, his plan is a 10-year proposal with no guarantees.
On the other hand, just saying and allowing companies to drill in ANWR and the OCS could drive the price down, because speculators will have no reason to predict oil prices at a higher rate.
As always, Here is some extra reading on speculators:

And a video too!

Tata for now.
